Chapter 6

Addisyn

"So," Demi asked taking a small drink from her glass. "What exactly do you do for a living, Cameron?"

I didn't even tell Demi about Cameron yet so I knew she was going to grill him as much as she could tonight which made me nervous as hell. We had only been on one date and I still barely knew a thing about him. Her questioning was kind of nice because it took some of the pressure off of me to dig for information without coming off as too nosey.

"I work at my father's firm right across the street" he said pointing to the huge seven story building.

"You work at Brooks and Rinehart?" I asked surprised at his choice of work.

"That would be the very one. You've heard of us I presume?"

"Of course. I don't live under a rock. You guys are the hotshots around here. I am just surprised you work there is all."

"Why is that? I don't seem like the lawyer type?" he asked with a curious gleam in his eye.

"Uh...well. I haven't known you for long but no. You didn't peg me as the lawyer type. Learn something new every day I guess," I said with a smile. I hoped he wasn't offended by my observation.

Demi raised her eyebrow at me and gave me a look that said "we will be talking later," which I already knew we would be.

"Well ladies, I have to get going. I have to be at work in the morning." He grabbed a piece of paper and a pen writing something down and handed it to me. "Stay in touch, Addisyn." He looked over at Demi and said his goodbyes then walked across the street to his car. I stared after him and was content in doing so until Demi broke into my thoughts.

"Holy shit!" she said loudly. "I didn't even know you knew someone that hot. Did you see his eyes and his arms?? I could lick that man for hours and never get bored. Whew," she said using her hand to fan herself.

I couldn't help but my laugh at my best friend's clear approval of at the least the physical aspects of Cameron. "Yeah...that's what I thought when I first saw him. He was a gentleman on our date."

"A date??? Girl, what else are you not telling me? You said nothing about a date and nothing about Mr. Sex on a stick" she said crossing her arms in front of her chest in a fake pout.

"Well...I would have but someone's man parts were inside you when I got home so I didn't really want to interrupt your little sex fest" I said with a giggle.

"That's no excuse! Okay...maybe a little bit of one. Tell me all about him. How did you even meet this guy? You're not really the outgoing type typically."

"Ah, well. I was on my way home the other day and he actually ran into the back of my car" I stated biting my lip.

"He what?! Oh my god, are you okay?"

"Well obviously I'm fine and the car is fine too, it just left a small scratch. It really wasn't a big deal, but he offered to take me out to dinner to make up for it so I said yes. I didn't see why I shouldn't" I said shrugging my shoulders with indifference.

"Do you like him?" she asked with curiosity.

"I am really not sure yet" I said honestly. "I mean we have only had the one date and I'm really not sure if he's looking for a fling or something more. I'm not sure if I want either right now in all honesty. But he did give me his number."

"Addisyn, I haven't seen you date anyone in years or even look at anyone since everything happened. You were most definitely looking at Cameron. I mean even if you decided you don't want anything physical with him, maybe he could be a good friend. Or even better, you could fuck him a few times and you could both get something out of it. He seems like he would be good in bed," she said with a quick wink.

"You know I don't do the whole friends with benefits thing, Demi. It never ends well for anyone. Someone always ends up getting hurt." We got in the car and she didn't say another word about it. I pulled on a tank top and crawled into bed letting my mind wander to Cameron.

He was good looking and he had a smooth voice and easy laugh which kept drawing me to him. I already went out of my comfort zone by letting him take me to dinner and even though I knew I put on a good game, I wasn't sure I could be what I am sure he was used to. Lawyers always dated the same types. Young, tall, beautiful and confident. While I knew I wasn't an ugly duckling, I knew I wasn't confident enough to hold my own around those kinds of people. I used to be that girl. The one who didn't take shit from anyone and could walk into a crowded place and feel like I owned the room but I wasn't that girl anymore and I wasn't sure I ever would be again.
