He was a man set on a task,
And in the glory, he would bask.
He knew what people would think,
If they had seen the murderous wink.
His eyes as dark as night,
When he saw his target in sight.

She was beautiful, that he would admit,
But for her looks, he would not submit.
He took it upon himself to watch the young girl,
As she was slowly becoming his world.

But he still had his job at hand,
So his love for her, he had to withstand.

It killed him when he saw her tears,
Which left a few dark smears.
Her screams still ring in his ears,
Constantly reminding him of his fears.

It had to be done though,
As she was his foe.
She had committed a sin,
Which crawled along his skin.
She had no power over how she was born,
Or how she was pricked with a thorn.

But his cult had its laws,
And she had been not without flaws.
She would have ruined any progress made,
And for that he was afraid.

He had worked hard at getting to this point,
And he knew he couldn't disappoint.

So he did what was right,
And burnt her a light.
She was not of his kind, a pure leech in disguise,
Who would have done nothing, but brought him to his demise.

He had taken the life of his love,
For the belief of above.
