I looked out the window sighing, "dad" I mumble, "why did we have to move so far awa- I didn't get far before I was cut off, "you know why we moved Cleo" he growled, i shrunk back into my seat afraid of the outcome if I were to anger him, he hasn't been the same since my mothers death, he loved her more than anything, more than me that's for sure.

Sighing I put in my earphones and let music block out any snide comment my so called father had for me, it's a risk I know that for sure and i would get a slap for it later or no dinner maybe a punch, the saddest thing was that I had grown so used to him hurting me out of his bottled up anger that I knew what to expect.

The car abruptly stopped, I looked out the window and saw a gas station, that however wasn't what caught my attention, it was the man standing a few feet away next to his car, yet what really caught my attention was his eyes, they were the most beautiful forest green, I couldn't help but stare. So caught up in staring at the mysterious stranger I didn't notice my father standing at the door not looking very patient, he opened the door and grabbed me roughly by the arm tugging me out of the vehicle, my eyes averted to the floor, I didn't dare look my father directly in the eyes.

He warned me to stay put while he went inside to pay for fuel, he sent me a fierce glare through the window as if a warning, warm tears started spilling out of my eyes uncontrollably, why did he hate me so much, I had never done anything to him.

I looked up to find that the mysterious stranger was making his way towards me, I didn't dare look at him, I knew my father would be angry if I did and I really didn't want to risk that, the stranger stopped about 3 feet away from me, I looked up warily tears still spilling out of my eyes, he took one more step and looked me right in the eyes, "Don't let him get to you." After mumbling the few short words he took off in a sprint towards what I'm assuming was his car leaving me utterly confused, I didn't even know him.

I saw my father approaching me in a fit of rage, he had seen me with that person, "Who was that!" He growled, I lowered my head, "I-I don't know w-what your talking about." I whispered, "Don't lie to me!" He screamed earning a few stares, "I don't kn-know who  he is." I said barely above a whisper, "Did you tell him anything, anything at all!" He whispered harshly, "no." I said not looking him in the eyes, "keep it that way!

And once again I was on my own with my thoughts.
