"Alright," he said.
"Alright," she replied, looking out over the creek beneath them. He quirked a brow and looked at her, a gentle smile resting on his lips.
"Are you mocking me?" He asked. She looked back at him.
"Not unless you think it's cute." she said playfully. His eyes widened slightly.
"Woah there" he said. She shrugged nonchalantly.
"What?"
"That caught me by surprise," he admitted. She leaned back, her arms shooting into the air.
"Finally! I won!" She exclaimed joyfully. He smirked, challenging her statement.
"No," she said slowly. "Let me savor this moment! I won."
"Oh yeah?" He asked, turning toward her.
"Yes," she stated, sounding very matter-of-fact.
"Well, I did find it cute, just so you know" he said, winking. She felt her heart skip a beat.
"Whyyyyyy..." She whined.
"Because you had a cheap shot so I wanted one!" He exclaimed.
"It's easy for me to flirt though! It's not easy to be flirted with!" She yelled back.
"Same!"
"AKA It's awkward!"
"I know damn well!"
"But you're cute when you're awkward!" She turned towards him. "And I'm not." He chuckled quietly.
"You've heard the saying; beauty is in the eye of the beholder?" He quizzed.
"Of course."
"Well, there you go. It's my choice whether or not you're cute," he smiled genuinely and she grumbled to herself. He laughed.
"Whatever, babe," he snickered. Another beat skipped.
"Woah! So That's how it's gunna be."
"Damn right."
"You know sweetheart you really shouldn't cuss. It's improper."
"Is that so?" Slowly, the space between them began to shrink.
"Well, yeah."
"Whatever," he whispered sassily, glancing at her lips.
"Come on now doll, don't be that way." She could feel his heat. Her heart had never sped so quickly.
"Sorry cutie," their lips touched. She saw stars. "I do what I want."
"Well," she said after a while of sitting with him on that bridge. "I've got to go. Goodnight sweetheart. Sweet dreams, and, uh... Make sure I'm in them."
"You know it," he said into her hair, kissing her forehead. "Goodnight."
