When I woke up, Jade was lying shirtless on his chest on the floor, his back moving up and down with every breathe. I stretched out on the couch and yawned, then crawled on top of his back.

“Hey,” I said quietly, running my fingers through his hair. “Jade, wake up.”

He stirred slightly, but didn’t fully wake.

I laughed softly. “Jade,” I cooed, tracing the muscles on his back and arms. “Rise and shine. Wakey, wakey.”

“No,” he mumbled into the plush carpet. “Sleepy, sleepy.”

I laughed again, kissing his cheek. “Ok, well I’m leaving.”

“No,” he frowned with his eyes still closed. “No, stay. I…” he yawned. “I want you to stay…with me. Cause…I…you…and then…don’t stop…and…and…” He trailed off as he fell back asleep.

I smiled at him, breathing in his scent before rolling off of him and back onto the couch. He looked so innocent in his sleep.

I was still looking at him 15 minutes later when he started to wake.

“Hey,” he said, his voice husky from sleep.

“Hey sleepy-head,” I grinned looking down at him.

“How long was I out?” he sat up and pulled me down to the floor next to him.

            “Not much longer than me.”

“Why didn’t you wake me?” He pulled me into the crook of his arm.

“I tried,” I said laughing. “You wanted to stay ‘sleepy, sleepy’.”

“Aw! I said that?” he buried his face into my hair.

“Yes. And you mumble in your sleep. Did you know that?”

“Mumble?” He sat up in alarm. “What did I mumble?”

I laughed at his reaction. “Nothing really, just that you love me and you don’t want me to leave.”

“Oh. Ok.” He relaxed into me again. “I thought I might have said what I was dreaming.”

“Jade!” I smacked his chest. “Oh, that’s what you meant when you said ‘don’t stop’, Hah-hah. I get it now!”

He glared at me. “Funny, hah-hah.”

            I grinned evilly.

“I need to go.” He said easing away from me and walking towards his bedroom.

“Go? Where?” I called after him.

“To make a statement at the police station.”

“What did you do Jade?” I asked sternly.

“It wasn’t my fault this time. This crazy old lady-“

“Never mind! I don’t want to know.” I said cutting him off.

“It’s not like it really matters. No one was hurt and I have plenty of money to save my a**.” He was right. Money was not an issue for his family (he can thank his father for that).
