I stole a glance at Aaron. He looked good.

But whatever, I told myself. I'm after Leroy, who's cuter, funnier and way more of a gentleman than Aaron would ever be.

I handed my cup of punch to Deb, then went over to the D.J, whispering my suggestion into his ear. He nodded, and within seconds my favorite romantic slow song began to play. I expected my heart to start pounding like it always did when I was about to see Aaron, but it remained at the same pace.

I ignored this, figuring it was just because I was relaxed, confident, and ready. I gave my gorgeous auburn hair a little flip and went over to Leroy, who had been abandoned by Coral.

"Hey," I greeted, batting my mascara-enhanced eyelashes. "Want to dance?"

"C-Coral's in the bathroom. I don't think-"

But I had already wrapped my arms around his neck and he nervously put his around my waist. I watched him look around as if scared of something, but after a while I gave up looking and just tried to think of what to say next.

I had never been in this situation. With me, it was the opposite of most girls. When I liked a guy, I could talk and make him laugh hysterically for hours. If I didn't like him, no words came to mind.

Which meant....I didn't like Leroy.
