At first, I was really excited on working overseas. On a ship specifically. Why? Simply because I finished Bachelor of Science in Marine Transportation at NAMEI Polytechnic Institute.
Luckily, Lord heard my prayers. I came aboard on a General Cargo ship. I knew from the start that being a seaman was hard and difficult but I promised to myself that I will never give up nor surrender once I had given a chance to work aboard.
When I was young (teenager), my daily routines were sleeping, eating, playing computer games, watching television, and other social media stuff so I don't have any work experience. You must be thinking of how lazy am I but you're wrong. Our maid happens to do all the household chores leaving me to do nothing at all. No job experience combined with height and weight disadvantage is equals to me. Yes, height and weight indeed. I'm chubby with a height of 5'1 feet.
My first two weeks here at Motor Vessel MIIKE was bloody and dreadful. Work here was like working as a construction worker, housekeeper, and a navigator. I'm a student and a worker at the same time. I looked up at the sky above only to find out that moon was there. Lonely and alone.
It was difficult for me but going home was never an option. This is what I chose so I have to endure whatever may come. Besides, Captain Cariño always correct me whenever I commit mistakes. He's here to guide me, not just for me but for all of us.
The moon was never alone at the skies above, stars were always there for it. Shining all together. Same as here, I was never alone. We are family.
