Love that choice - punishment that became power. Here's the origin:

# The Origin of the Eclipse Born
## The First Sin
Three thousand years ago, the supernatural world was governed by a single law above all others - **the Law of Separate Blood**. Vampires did not cross into lycan territory. Lycans did not take witch partners. The three bloodlines were kept apart not out of hatred but out of fear - the elders of each kind believed that mixing the three natures would create something the world could not contain.
They were right.
A vampire lord named **Caelindra** broke the law first. She loved a lycan warrior named **Soren**, and he loved her back in the reckless way people love when they believe love is stronger than consequence. They were bonded in secret by a witch woman named **Maren**, who performed the blood-binding herself - weaving all three natures into a single unbreakable knot.
When the elders found out, all three were brought before the **Tribunal of Three** - representatives of the oldest families in each bloodline.
The sentence was not death.
Death would have been mercy.

## The Curse
The Tribunal called upon the oldest witch elder - a woman whose name has been deliberately erased from every record - and commissioned a curse designed to punish the three across every generation that followed.
**The Edict of Sundered Blood:**
> *Let no child of this union know peace in their own skin. Let the three natures war within them - vampire hunger warring with lycan instinct warring with witch power - until the body tears itself apart or the mind breaks first. Let them be called abomination by every kind that sees them. Let them belong nowhere. Let them be the warning the world carries forward.*
Caelindra, Soren, and Maren were executed the same night.
Their bloodline was not.

## What the Curse Became
The Tribunal assumed the curse would do its work - that Eclipse Born children would be born broken, would suffer, would die young, and the bloodline would eventually burn itself out.
For centuries, it nearly did.
Eclipse Born children arrived rarely - once a generation, sometimes less. Most died in childhood, the three natures genuinely at war inside a body too small to hold them. Those who survived long enough to be found were hunted by the very Tribunal that had issued the curse, labeled dangerous, exterminated before they could come into their power.
The supernatural world agreed on almost nothing.
They agreed on this.

## The Fracture in the Curse
What no one accounted for - what the old witch elder either didn't foresee or chose not to say - was that punishment applied to something strong enough only makes it stronger.
The three natures did war. For generations they did exactly what the curse intended.
But blood has memory. And over centuries, the three natures inside the Eclipse Born bloodline began to do something the Tribunal never anticipated.
**They learned each other.**
Vampire learned to listen to lycan instinct instead of fighting it. Lycan learned to channel witch power instead of burning through it. Witch magic learned to draw from both rather than collapse under them.
The curse didn't break. It **evolved** - still there, still painful, still costing every Eclipse Born something real - but no longer fatal to those strong enough to survive the early years.
The elders called it an aberration. A fluke.
The Eclipse Born who survived called it something else.
**A inheritance.**

## Taryn
Taryn is not the first Eclipse Born to survive into her power.
She is the first to stop running.
Every Eclipse Born before her either died young, was hunted down, or spent their lives hiding - moving, erasing themselves, never staying long enough to be found. The curse had done one part of its work perfectly even when it failed at the rest: **it kept them isolated.**
Taryn broke that too.
She stopped. She planted her feet in the southern Indiana woods and she built something. A house. A ward. A home for every creature the old law had tried to erase.
The Tribunal's descendants - the Hollow Branch Coven among them - have noticed.
They are not pleased.
The curse was never meant to produce this.
