I knew you three years ago,
or maybe I only knew of you.
Three years of passing by,
of knowing your name
without knowing your voice,
of looking your way
without ever having a reason to smile.
And then, somehow,
this year changed everything.
You walked into my life
without warning,
at a time I never expected someone to come.
Maybe it was unfortunate.
Maybe it was a blessing.
Maybe some people are simply meant
to arrive without an explanation.
I don't know when it happened,
but somewhere between
the conversations we never used to have
and the ones I never want to end,
something in me changed.
Maybe I have feelings for you.
Maybe I don't.
I still don't know.
And perhaps
I don't need to know.
Because when I look at you,
I see a good person.
Not because I know every part of you,
but because I don't.
I know the side of you
that you have shown me,
and strangely,
that's enough.
I don't think I want to discover
every hidden corner of your heart.
I don't want to know
every version of you
that exists beyond the one I know.
Because I like this version.
The one who makes talking feel easy.
The one around whom
I don't have to measure my words.
The one who somehow makes me feel free
in a way I've never felt before.
Maybe you judge me.
Maybe you don't.
But somehow,
I don't care.
Because I've never seen the judgment
I was afraid to find in your eyes.
And maybe that's why
having you in my life
feels like a blessing.
Not the kind of blessing
I want to keep.
Not the kind that says,
You are mine
I don't want you to be mine.
Some people are too beautiful
to be turned into possessions.
I only want to be grateful
that, for a little while,
our paths crossed
and you became a part of my story.
Maybe I'll never tell you
any of this.
Maybe these words
will remain here,
hidden between pages
you'll never read.
And maybe that's okay.
Because you are a really good person.
Just...
perhaps not for me.
And somehow,
I'm learning to be okay with that.
You can be someone's forever
without being mine.
And I can still be grateful
that I got to know
the side of you
that made this year
a little more beautiful
