Dazai pov:

My abode is quiet. Isolated from most society... I lay my head against the thin pillow on my cheap mattress and stare at the ceiling above. "This is demotivating..." I muttered. My hands folded over my stomach.

The dim light of the lamp on my desk slightly lights up the area near me. The silence and stench of toxic waste spills into my home. A shipping container in a waste land slash junkyard field. Nothing around here is remotely alive. It's all dead; like me.

There's no sunshine or butterflies around here. You wouldn't find such things in a life like mine anyway. The Port Mafia isn't the place for such complimenting things. We all live in the dark where no light can be seen.

We're deep at the bottom of the ocean where it's pitch black and no way to see the bright colorful surface. Our world is one of black and white... Like an old timey film. I slowly sit up at the grumbling of my stomach, and I stared down at myself.

Hunger. What a waste of human time. For whoever can even call themselves human. I'm no such thing. Merely a demonic being trapped in a human body since birth. Nothing I can do or have done could be considered human. The emotionless thrill of the kill is inhuman. Anyone in their right mind would feel something.

But as for I feel nothing. Just pure blankness. I don't find joy or satisfaction in killing nor do I feel remorse or guilt. I just stare maniacally. The empty stare and terrifying smile any child or teen my age could show for someone in their last moments.

I for one have no emotions... Or so I like to think... This stupid human body likes to contradict me. It's never ending. The feeling of living and pure emptiness there's no reason for living, yeah? Except I recently found something or rather someone who has made life a little more worth experiencing.

Death only ever so rarely stays out of my mind, but it's been a minute since I've had such thoughts... Still the cuts under my bandages don't prove much of my slowing tendencies. It hasn't much improved. Nothing's changed. I just feel more like living a little longer to enjoy my time with my new partner.

Chuuya Nakahara. We have a mission together from what Mori's message had said hours ago; I never responded. But I guess I need to at some point. So, I take my phone in my hands and type out a response saying I'll meet him in his office to discuss details soon. Then I scroll to my most newly added contact.

"Slug." I murmured with a light laugh. That fits him so well. I close my phone and shove it in my pocket after messaging that bronze for brains idiot to meet in Mori's office. I hadn't exactly been clear in my message either. He'll be scrambling what little brain cells he has to figure out the puzzle I sent him.

He's so going to be livid when he finally figures it out. He'll be screaming like a little girl at me later. I can't wait for this entertainment. He never fails to indulge in my rage bait. He always falls for it. That's how slow he is to composure, and it makes me wonder how he survives missions.

I walk out of that deafening container and make my way into the city. I drag my feet along the pavement at each crosswalk and groan when I meet face to face with the Mafia headquarters. I'm seriously getting bored of this place. I don't quite understand anyone in the Port Mafia, nobody here is in a place like this for any of the right reasons.

I soon will be able to kick the bucket. Get out of this place. I can't exactly wait. "Dazai!" Oh well wouldn't you know it. "Ahh! My little doggy! Did he finally figure out his master's orders?" I cooed with a smug expression. His face contorted in anger and a slight hint of disgust flashed in his eyes.

"How many times do I have to tell you, I. Am. Not. Your. Damn. Dog!" He growled at me, that letting out a snicker from my mouth. "This all just a big game too you isn't? Just one big joke for entertainment huh?!" Chuuya's tone was laced with venom, oh how the anger dripped like honey from his thin warm toned lips.

"Are you even listening to me?!" He shouted, "Oi! What are staring at?!" He continued on. I watched him raise his fingers to his mouth with the most weirded out expression on his face. "What? Do I have something on my mouth? I haven't eaten anything..." He trailed off. Once he felt nothing, he stared at me a hint of annoyance in his voice as he speaks again.

"You are the weirdest guy I've ever met." Those words left his mouth leaving me with this unsettling jealousy deep inside me. Yeah, he knows other guys. Why is that such a thing that angers me? Sounds like pure stupidity to me.

"Did you or did you not understand my message?" I asked with an unimpressed look. He seemed too have been taken aback as he just looked at me with disbelief. "Yeah. I understood it. It literally said, "Meet in Mori's office. He has a mission for us." What was there to not understand?" He gave me an ugly look.

"Oh damn, I guess your brain is more complex than I had expected out of you." I looked away from the ginger. "Well doggy, let's get to Mori before he gives us both an ear full. I rather not sit in his office longer than needed." I started in the direction of Mori's office.

"Do you know anything about the mission already?" Chuuya asked in a mumble. He had his hands in his pockets and his hair tucked behind his ears with a small strand or two in his blue eyes. "Eh." I shrugged. I could feel the daggers in my back. "Your stare could kill me." I spoke flatly.

"I bet you'd like that you suicidal maniac." He made me laugh. "Is that the nickname you settled with?" I asked cruelly. He just gritted his teeth. "Tch. Not a nickname. It's the truth asshole." We stop at Mori's door and I swing it open.

"Mori... What's the mission?"
