Gomi Shinjitsu, a child with black hair and white eyes which shined like the moon, eclipsed by the pitch black pupils. He was a normal, perfectly happy child at this time in his life. You see, it was his fourth birthday, he woke up excited since today was the day that he and his mom find out if he has his quirk. In all honesty, he was anxious, hearing of the small chance that he ends up Quirkless, since twenty percent of people end up as so. However, Yukio didn't even let her son think of this possibility today, telling Gomi happy birthday and helping him get ready for school. And for once he was excited to do so.

He couldn't wait to see his friends so they could all celebrate the day. While his family certainly wasn't rich, his mother worked hard to send him to a much higher rated school than one would expect of their income. It often meant Gomi had to take the bus home and spend half an hour by himself, but he didn't mind the wait. It never took too long, and he loved surprising his mom.
He met up with his kindergarten friends, ecstatic as they told him happy birthday and everyone started talking about what a cool quirk he'd have.

"I bet you'll be able to spit lightning!" One kid said, it was his mother's quirk after all.

"I hope not, he'd steal my whole thing!" Denki said with a huff, getting laughs out of everybody, including his best friend.

"No way I could do it better than you, Kaminari! Maybe I'll get my dad's quirk, my mom says he could power up in whatever way he wanted!" The black haired boy said with a grin, everybody getting more excited before the teachers finally calmed the class down.

After a few hours of school, Gomi actually went to get picked up this time, not by the bus but by his mom of course. And they went straight to the doctor's office for his quirk evaluation.

"Hey mom, do you think I'll get dad's quirk?" He asks, cheerfully looking up at his mother, who flinched at the question for some reason. "Oh, I don't know sweetie. But whatever you get, I'm sure you'll make a great hero." His mother gave him, adding a nervous chuckle to the end to try and sell her excitement. Truly, she doesn't want him to inherit his father's quirk, as the side effects would make the boy's life miserable.

And they arrived, ready to take the evaluation, and receive the news. "Well kid, happy to say that you have a quirk! Now it hasn't developed yet, but all the tests have come back positive. You'll have a strong power!" The doctor says, giving the two a grin. Gomi let out the breath he didn't realize he was holding, smiling and trying to stay calm so he'd act right in the doctor's office. Yukio though was still a bit anxious.

"Doctor, can you tell which quirk he'll inherit?" She asks, hoping and internally begging to know. She needs to know if she can prepare ahead of time to help her boy in either case, she can't afford preparation for both. "I'm sorry, Ms. Shinjitsu, but I'm afraid until he shows symptoms between a few days and two weeks, we'll have no idea which quirk he inherits." The doctor says, before deciding to look into the boys father.

"Your insurance can cover and medical needs the kid may need for his quirk. Including things like Respirdal or Seroquel." The doctor says while reading the overview on the father's quirk. Getsai Shinjitsu, a man with a quirk that made him go mad. Records say he often suffered from hallucinations, and had a gruesome quirk that made most people avoid him. His Quirk? Equivalent Exchange, a power that forces him to make drastic sacrifices in order to gain more power. Boosting senses requires a brutal sacrifice of another. Biting off his tongue, gouging his eyes. Slicing off limbs or tearing out organs in order to modify his body in horrific ways.
