Since i was a kid, I've always loved the Super Cat Tales franchise. The cute graphics, the story, and the gameplay is great, aside from how much grinding i had to do for the items. Though, i never really got to play it anymore due to high school.

I've been feeling nostalgic lately, so i decided to download it to play on the weekend. However, things were a bit weird when i opened the game. The title read 'Super Cat Tales Two' instead of the normal roman two (II). I shrugged it off assuming it's an update and started the game anyway. Not even five seconds in, i noticed something was wrong. All of the levels were completed, some even having crowns on them. Even weirder, when i checked the game in my app settings, there isn't even an option to delete the data to restart the game, as if the core game itself is like this. Regardless, my curiosity got the better of me to see what's in the game after all these years.

Neko House had no coins and every bell already collected with the dandelions at the end of the level already ran through before i came somehow, and most levels are missing a handful of minions.

The first boss fight was Mizu, however he wasn't present in the arena anywhere, nor were any of the Tin Soldiers throughout the level. His wrecking ball was still above the arena, but it had the shattered sprite. The other two wrecking balls are also missing.

Other bossfights that followed were the same. No bosses, no soldiers, and minor level changes like diggable ground already shoveled, and missing coins.

"The sky's clear now, thanks for saving us."
"Thanks for defeating the Tin Army. You're a lifesaver."
"The power plant is safe now."
"The city's safe thanks to you!"

The NPCs would say, which is odd considering they never really thanked you in the game. I shrugged it off as an update, but i couldn't deny the anomalies piling up. When i explored Ninja Outpost, a gray bell sat where one of the kittens would've normally been despite the game showing all bells already collected. When i collected it, the game froze for a moment before Alex died without taking a second hit, sending me back to the overworld.

I continued on, exploring the empty levels, however, messing around in City Ruins led me to find a secret path in the building walls where you first climb up. It teleported me to a dim empty room. I didn't find anything at first, but heading to the right, i found... The Tin Commanders. One in each room. The first room had Gorudo, he wasn't floating though.

". . ."
"why are you back?"

"what else do you want?"

"the Tin Army is gone."

"get lost."

The text dialogue wasn't even in speech bubbles, simply reading out above everything on the screen. It wasn't possible to leave the area, so i continued forward into the second room. Mizu stood still, missing his arms. He turned around before i could approach him.

"You!!"

"I can't believe i let you live!"

"You think we're done?!"

"I let you beat me last time..."

"And i won't repeat the same mistake!!"

A boss fight ensues as he chases Alex, he'll only stop when i stand still to try and kick and stomp on Alex. I switched to Olli after a good minute of trying to figure out how to defeat him. Two hits were enough to defeat him, and when i did, he had a few last things to say before exploding:

"You think you're better than me?!"

"This..."

"ISN'T..."

"OVER!"

It was in fact over. One last room awaits me, with Captain Lace inhabiting it. Oddly enough, the game switched me to Alex on its own. With nothing else to do, i approached the pirate.

"Are you satisfied now?"

The game crashed upon stepping on the finish line. I couldn't open it no matter how many times i tried. Nobody believed me and thought i played a mod.
