Autumn passed in the blink of an eye. On the television, the weather reporter announced that the cold weather would arrive much earlier this year compared to the last. Jennie remembered how, even bundled up in thick, bulky clothes, she could still feel the biting chill in the air when she stepped outside. Winter had truly arrived.

Realizing she would need to dress even warmer tomorrow, Jennie picked up the remote control and switched the channel.

"Next up: the ongoing scandal between Actor Lisa Manoban and Actress Somi Jeon..."

The reporter's lively voice made Jennie's hand freeze in midair. He was grinning as if discussing his own romance as a picture of Lisa Manoban and Somi Jeon flashed onto the screen.

"Two years ago, these two actors showed incredible chemistry when they starred in a drama together. News that they are reuniting for a new project has once again put them in the spotlight. Although both agencies have remained silent, their lack of denial has only fueled the rumors. Combined with a surge of eyewitness accounts placing them together alongside mutual friends, public interest has..."

Jennie stared at the photo of Lisa and Somi hanging out with their circle. She had already seen it online multiple times—it was the same picture recirculated whenever rumors about them resurfaced.

They were walking down the sidewalk, facing each other. Lisa had his hat pulled low, while Somi looked up at him with a bright, radiant smile. No matter how one looked at it, they appeared genuinely happy together.

When the scandal first broke, people commented on how well-matched they were. Whenever Jennie heard those remarks, she never knew how to respond. She couldn't bring herself to agree. Because if she did... sitting alone in a silent house, staring at an untouched dinner at an empty table, going through the motions over and over again... it would simply hurt too much.

Beep, beep.

Her phone rang, snapping her out of her thoughts. She picked it up and saw the caller ID: "Him."

"Yeah," she answered, pressing the phone to her ear.

"—Jennie."

She heard a heavy sigh from the other end of the line. Jennie wanted to ask him: Do you know when you started sighing every time you called me?

Instead, she remained silent and waited.

"—I think I'm going to be late tonight. Because of the scandal, there's a swarm of reporters outside, and I don't know when the paparazzi will leave. Go ahead and sleep first." His voice was low and gentle, though faintly laced with irritation.
