The Potter-Weasley Legacy

Chapter One — Home

The Potter-Weasley house was never quiet.

It was the kind of place where laughter travelled through the walls, where footsteps thundered across wooden floors, and where something was almost always exploding in the kitchen.

Nestled deep in the English countryside, the old Tudor-style house looked almost ordinary from the outside. Ivy climbed around the stone walls, purple wisteria hung over the windows, and a winding path disappeared beneath enormous lavender bushes and white lilies.

But anyone who knew the family understood that there was nothing ordinary about it.

Inside, photographs moved on the walls.

A tiny broomstick occasionally flew through the hallway.

And somewhere upstairs, three three-year-olds were usually plotting their next adventure.

"NO!"

The scream echoed through the house.

Fred Weasley froze halfway through pouring himself a cup of tea.

He slowly looked toward the staircase.

"Was that one of ours?"

His wife, Lily Potter-Weasley, looked up from the book she was reading.

"Yes."

Another scream followed.

"And that was definitely another one."

Fred sighed.

"I'll get them."

Lily smiled. "You said that last time."

"I've learned from my mistakes."

"You haven't."

Fred grinned before disappearing upstairs.

Lily shook her head affectionately.

She had inherited her mother's beautiful red hair, although hers fell in long waves around her shoulders. Her eyes were an unusual green, almost exactly like her father's.

Harry Potter had always joked that she had inherited all of Lily Evans Potter's stubbornness and all of James Potter's mischief.

He wasn't wrong.

A photograph above the fireplace showed Lily as a baby, held proudly by James while her mother laughed beside them.

Another showed Lily as a Hogwarts student.

And another showed her wedding day.

Standing beside her in the photograph was Fred Weasley, wearing an enormous grin.

Lily smiled at the memory.

Then—

CRASH.

She closed her eyes.

"Fred."

From upstairs came a muffled voice.

"Everything's fine!"

Lily immediately stood.

"That usually means it isn't."

She hurried upstairs.

When she reached the triplets' bedroom, she found Fred sitting on the floor surrounded by stuffed animals, wooden toys and three very guilty-looking toddlers.

Her eldest son was holding a toy wand.

Her daughter was sitting underneath the bed.

And her youngest son had somehow managed to climb onto the windowsill.

"Absolutely not," Lily said.

The little boy immediately smiled.

"Mummy!"

Lily scooped him down.

Fred pointed toward the toy wand.

"I believe he started it."

His wife raised an eyebrow.

"You're blaming a three-year-old?"

"I've learned never to underestimate a Potter."

Lily laughed.

"You married one."

Fred smiled.

"Best decision I ever made."

For a moment, everything was peaceful.

Then a knock sounded downstairs.

Lily's smile faded slightly.

She could feel something different in the air.

Something she couldn't explain.

Fred noticed.

"What is it?"

"I don't know."

They walked downstairs together.

When Lily opened the front door, she found a tall, dark-haired man standing at the end of the garden path.

Paul Lahote.

He had travelled a long way.

And he hadn't come alone.

Behind him stood several members of the Quileute pack.

But Paul wasn't looking at them.

He was looking directly at Lily.

The instant their eyes met, something inside him changed.

Everything became still.

The sound of the wind disappeared.

The birds stopped singing.

And Paul knew.

He had found his imprint.

Lily stared at him, confused.

Fred stepped slightly in front of her.

"Can I help you?"

Paul didn't answer immediately.

His eyes remained fixed on Lily.

Then, quietly, he said—

"Her."

Fred frowned.

"Sorry?"

Paul finally looked at him.

"She's the one."

Lily's heart began pounding.

She had no idea what that meant.

But somewhere deep inside her, she had the strange feeling that her life had just changed forever.
