Chapter 1: The Cursed One

She has always been an abandoned child.
The most loathed.
The most unwanted.
The weakest.
The one with no cursed energy.
The most useless.
The one with the most hideous looking.
Neglected.

The cursed one.

No one wants her. No matter how much she dreams, no matter how much she hopes, even in those made-up illusions, she has always- always been unwanted.

She has done nothing wrong at all. If she is the strongest, if she has the power to change reality, she would do it. It would be better than living in a loop– in a loop of hatred being poured on her. Every place she goes, every event she attends, outrageous whispers would form around her. By the time she was old enough to understand, there was only one deduction she could think of.

She is the cursed one.

the l/n clan has always been an honourable family. A known, respected one in the sorcery world although its position would never be above the Big Three: the Gojo clan, the Zenin clan and the Kamo clan.

The l/n clan is marked for its Energy Boundary technique. It is genetically passed down to the members of the clan. The users are able to manipulate the pressure of ambient cursed energy and place invisible boundary lines in mid-air. The pressure wall formed would be short-lived and temporary, it's a barrier line that is able to deflect any low-level cursed energy attacks or push back any advancing enemies. The technique can be distorted by stepping across their own boundary lines in order to shift the momentum in a sudden way.

Most of this knowledge was obtained by y/n not through direct lessons— but from listening at keyholes and stealthy peeping at her sister, Kaede, her sister of the whole blood, taking lessons by their father, mother and the adults of l/n. Nevertheless— she was taught the most by her grandmother. The only person who has ever shown her genuine love and care in the mansion. Her grandmother would be the place where she cried of how others treat her, the place where she laughed and smiled— before that motherly role was substituted with an old aged caretaker, Chiyo san, after y/n's grandmother passed away.

Despite the l/n clan technique being passed down genetically in the blood of an l/n, y/n isn't granted with it. She wasn't born with cursed energy. She can't see any cursed spirits or energy, use cursed techniques or barriers, use any standard cursed tools and even heal herself with reverse cursed energy on her own. Which makes her useless, an outcast, being shunned by her own family by blood. Ever since she learned was a cursed presence, she excluded herself from the World of Sorcery and lives as a normal human being.

The Zenin clan is prominent with their techniques, the Ten Shadows and Projection Sorcery. They are always known for their ruthless obsession in power, martial strength and inherited techniques. Hapless non- sorcerers who are born in the family would be treated like outcasts– but that's no different with the l/n clan.

The rumoured future heir of the clan, Naoya Zenin, is a spoiled menace, known for his misogynistic and hate-monger behaviours. y/n met him a few times when she was a child– before her family stopped allowing her to do so. And she hated him. Hated him for the derogatory statements that came out of him with his wide smile and mocking tone.

The Kamo clan then, infamous for their Blood Manipulation technique. y/n doesn't really know how the technique works much, since she decided to shut herself from the world of sorcery politics and matters.

And no less significant —The Gojo clan.

The Gojo clan has always been known for its ultimate technique: the Limitless and Six Eyes. The clan descends from Sugawara no Michizane from the Heian Era. The Limitless is passed down genetically— yet the Six eyes is a rare biological phenomenon where only one user can exist at a time.
