Background:
Grace Hall has wanted one thing all her life. She just wanted to be normal, everyone saw her as that, but deep down she knew she was different. When Grace was born she had a blue glow to her eyes and the hospital room grew dark. She was put up for adoption, her parents could not raise a child with these conditions. That is what she thinks happens since there is no documentation on her parents or any story of an explanation.
She knows her mom was put into a mental hospital, but other than that there is no explanation of where her parents are. She was moved into many homes in New York City with no luck of finding a forever home.
With all her hope she was chosen by a lovely couple named, Miranda and Connor. They wanted a child of their own and when they met Grace they realized she was special. They saw things in her that no person ever saw in her. They saw hope in eyes of this girl. They saw the girl with messy brown hair and green eyes. They wanted that hope to become a reality for her, and they gave that to her.
Chapter One begins
Grace woke up to the load banging from her upstairs neighbors arguing at six in the morning. She looked at her alarm clock and realize it was just smarter to get up rather than go back to sleep and risk being late for school. The loud bangs irritated her and made her eyes glow blue. She took a deep breath to calm her self down before she lost her mind. She wanted to just explode in this moment, but she knew it wasn't the best option.
Grace sits up on her bed with her baggy black t-shirt and grey sweatpants. She steps off her bed and walks over to her mirror and sees her eyes are back to the normal green. She smiles accepting the girl she sees in the mirror. Grace does not accept her powers due to the fact of losing her birth parents over it.
She walks out of her room, and goes straight to the kitchen. She sees her mom cooking eggs and bacon.
"Good Morning sleepy head" her mom turns to make eye contact with grace. Grace groans at her and sits at the table. Her mom laughs to herself, "That's the good morning I get?" Grace rolls her eyes at the comment.
"Well maybe if we didn't have neighbors who screamed all night till the sun rises, maybe you would get a nicer good morning." She slumped her head on the table to show her frustration.
"It is not as bad you are making it out to be Grace, your father and I sleep great." She sets down a plate for Grace and walks back to the stove to make herself a plate. "Eat up and start getting ready, I'll drop you off today and then I have to go to the hospital, for a long shift. I'll be back late tonight. So I left some leftovers for you in the fridge." Her mom explained kind of in a rush this morning.
"You guys are never home anymore, I feel like I see you in the morning and I have to wait a whole day to see you again." Grace said and stared at her mom with an emotionless expression. With her dad being a cop and her mom being a nurse, it didn't give her much time to spend with them. Her mom let out a sigh and Grace looked at her food not knowing if she wanted to cry or just accept how life is for her. She knew her parents loved her more than anything, but she was still a young kid.
Her mom looked at her with guilt, "Honey I know and we are both trying to see if we can change are hours, and we both love you more than anything." Her mom moved her long brown hair out of her face so she can try to get her message through to her.
"I love you both, and I couldn't have asked for a better family. I don't want to be selfish I just want to see you guys more." Grace said with some tears in her eyes.
"Sweetie, you are not being selfish. You are very mature on handling this and your father and I are so proud to see how far you have come from the day we brought you home." Her mother gave her a soft hearted look.
