The hardest part about leaving home wasn't packing my bags.

It was realizing that the place I called home would soon become just a memory.

My room had never looked so empty before.

The walls were still the same. The small decorations on my shelf were still there.

The little marks on my desk from years of studying and late nights hadn't disappeared.

But somehow, it didn't feel like my room anymore.

Not when half of my life was packed into boxes.

I sat on the floor surrounded by clothes, books, and memories I wasn't sure I was ready to leave behind.

"Minji?"

I looked up.

Sora was standing by the door, holding a roll of tape in one hand and looking at the mess around me.

"You know moving is easier if you actually put things into boxes."

I rolled my eyes.

"I am putting things into boxes."

She looked at the pile of clothes next to me.

"That's a pile, not a box."

I laughed.

Somehow, Sora always knew how to make difficult moments feel lighter.

She had been there for almost everything.

My first heartbreak.

My worst days.

My happiest moments.

And now she was here for the moment I was leaving.

"You're really going."

Her voice was quieter this time.

I stopped folding my clothes.

"Yeah."

"Busan is going to feel weird without you."

I looked at her.

"You say that like I'm disappearing."

"You kind of are."

I smiled softly.

"I'm only moving to Seoul."

"Exactly. Seoul."

She said it like it was another country.

Maybe to me, it felt like one.

I was leaving the ocean I grew up with.

The streets I knew by heart.

The comfort of seeing familiar faces everywhere.

I was leaving the version of myself that knew exactly where she belonged.

After hours of packing, my room slowly became empty.

Sora helped me close the last box.
On top of it, she placed a small photo frame.

I looked at it.

It was a picture of us near the beach.

"You're taking that."

I smiled.

"Sora..."

"No."

She crossed her arms.

"You are not allowed to forget where you came from."

My smile faded into something softer.

"I won't."
