I really didn't want to go to school. Not today, nor tomorrow, or ever.
School meant stepping into a fun and chaotic place-filled with devils who disguise themselves as angels.
The worst of them all was Madeline-the one who ruined my life.
But I think it's best if I saved that story for another time because if I didn't get ready now, I'd be late for school and if I were late, I'd have to face...
No. No. Don't think about it.
Goodness, why am I so cynical?
I shook my head and finally got up from my bed, dimming the fussing in my head by plugging in my earphones and playing "Beauty and a Beat"
A smile took over my face as the music began, I walked over to the bathroom, taking out my brushes and toothpaste while humming to the song and-
"AVERY! HURRY UP, THE-"
Before my annoying little brother-Sam could finish what he was saying, I increased the volume of my earphones because I was insistent on maintaing the state of bliss I was in right now.
Though I knew that this wouldn't last long.
Only if such a state of mind were perpetual, life would've been easier.
But clearly, it's almost im-
"AVERY, THE BUS IS HERE!" Sam's muffled voice sounded out from my room.
I plucked out an earphone and groaned, ceasing the movement of brushing my teeth, "Quit lying would you? And for god's sake, stop yelling. It's seven in the morning and no one wants to get their eardrums damaged." I called back, my voice laced with annoyance.
There was silence from the other side for a while and I was about to plug my earphone back in when,
"Why don't you check the time?" Sam said, his voice lower than before-clearly indicating that he was up to something that definitely did NOT have any good intentions.
But my stubborn ass still didn't believe him.
I rolled my eyes, took out my phone from my pocket, switched on the lock screen and-
HOLY SHIT.
It was eight fifteen.
Panic filled me like a flame set ablaze, spreading fast and causing distress to every part of being.
SHIT. SHIT. SHIT.
I quickly washed my mouth and my face and called out to my brother as I quickly went out the bathroom and started changing into my uniform, "Sam! Please tell the driver to wait for five minutes-"
I called out, my voice aching as I struggled to tug my socks on.
"Goddamint, this piece of-"
I quickly padded over to my closet and took out my shirt and tugged it on, I had no time for makeup or hair-not that I could care any less about those but still it mattered.
I brushed my hair hastenly and tied a rough ponytail.
I checked at my reflection in the mirror.
Unfirom on. Socks on. Messy hair. Tired face.
Alright. Good to go-
I rushed out of the door and practically flew down the stairs all the way to the front door whilst swinging on my bag and screaming, "Wait! Wait for me!"
I ran out of the front door and called out to my grandma who was probably in the kitchen, "Bye grams!" And then I headed towards the bus, sighing in relief.
I took a deep breath and paused for a moment. Phew-Good thing that I wasn't going to be late on my first day.
I walked towards the bus, too tired to hold my chin up and walk straight because my backbone was under the pressure of several books that I had loaded into my bag.
I couldn't help but think-
"Bye sis!" Sam exclaimed from somewhere.
I instantly looked up and my eyes shot to the bus which was now...
SHIT.
No. No. No. No. No.
"Hold on! Please wait!" I started to run again as the bus began to move, "Please, wait for me-" I panted, my voice hoarse due to dehydration.
Shit. I forgot to take my water bottle.
I continued chasing after the bus but then I stopped because it was pointless. The bus had already sped off, leaving me behind to watch a devious sam-waving out of the window with a smile that clearly indicated that he looked too pleased with himself.
I scoffed, placing my hands on my knees as the weight of what was come settled in.
Shit...
I'm
I'd have to face Madeline and Dean today..
Madeline-my former best friend and Dean...my former lover.
