15 MONTHS BEFORE—funeral home 'green' room

"This is how I think it's going to go—there will be people who come because they knew your father and will be sad to see him gone and genuinely want to console us. But there are going to be plenty of people who are here for the show."

She was beyond explaining to people what I don't even know. "I don't care what you tell people. They'll make situations up no matter what they hear. If 25 people ask, you can give 25 different answers as far as I'm concerned. Think of it as a town-wide game of telephone."

As they left the room to 'greet' (was that even the right word?) people, Olivia hoped she looked appropriate. She wasn't even sure what that meant anymore. There wasn't much of a guide book for this.  Was the dress code different when you'd just found out your husband was a lying, cheating scumbag?  Basic black covered a lot but still....



This is my first attempt at writing, so it's bound to be great in some places, clunky in others.  Chapters too short, some will be too long.  I'm just hoping it sorts itself out as it goes.
