Nakakabingi ang katahimikan.
Everything around them was pitch black and the wind was making a shushing sound almost like it was teasing him.
Macrea hung his head low and spat blood on the ground. All those racetracks I'd reached without a scratch only to be gunned down by some sick fucker...
"Macrea." tawag ni Cholo sa kanya. The fucker looked like a bastard with his gun pointing at him as if he was a prisoner of war.
Sinubukan niyang gumapang palayo. Fuck, why am I in this shithole with this guy again?
"O? 'Wag mong sabihing pagtatangkaan mo pang tumakas sa lagay mong 'yan?" Cholo had the audacity to laugh like the devil that he was.
His wristwatch was smeared with dirt and blood but the fuckin' thing was still working even after everything it went through. Lucky piece of shit. Unlike its owner.
Well, shit. The fucker did manage to slit his sideway open.
He was about to overpower the shit out of Cholo. Well, he was preoccupied in beating him that Cholo managed to take out his fuckin' ice pick from somewhere and just stabbed him.
The two of them were deep inside the forest. Not that he was planning to, anyway.
Muli itong ngumisi. But your brother made it so easy for me to plan my revenge and take it all out on you."
Cholo's family business, a textile shop that had sustained them for years, was gone. That loss was what pushed him over the edge.
The company was on the brink of collapse when Macrea's brother, Gregory, stepped in with an unexpected truce. He offered to buy the entire business and keep Cholo's parents on as employees. They would stay on as managing partners of the company they once owned.
Five years later, Cholo's father died, and his mother lost her mind. Cholo saw every bit of misery his parents went through, and he swore that one day, he would take revenge.
Gregory was so fuckin' good at almost everything that he managed to become one of the top businessmen in the country.
So Cholo went to hunt Macrea instead. He planned to kill him and call it quits with Gregory, whatever twisted logic had led him there.
"Man, you've been such a drink buddy, I tell you that." saad nito sa tonong nanghihinayang.
Agad niya itong dinaluhan. Cholo was not responding so he ended up deciding to take him to the nearest hospital. And he could not in good conscience leave him there when he was with him the moment he collapsed.
He was already driving him when the fucker held him at gunpoint after realizing they were on a deserted street. Cholo laid out his reason and plan in the open since he thought Macrea wasn't going to survive anyway.
"Your acting sucked anyway." pangungutya niya. Guy like Cholo never liked being ridiculed. It made them feel like less of a man.
Marahan niyang ipinikit ang mga mata. Nahihilo na siya. If the gun wouldn't kill him, the blood loss from the wound his ice pick caused would. He was close to bleeding out. It's a fuckin wonder he could still stand.
He coughed hard and spit blood in the process.
"No." Cholo's voice was full of hatred. "He might never give back what's mine, but he'll feel the loss I felt when my father died. He'll know that pain. Your brother has no idea what pain even means, Macrea."
He knew the trigger was about to be pulled. For a moment, he felt strangely at peace. There was no fucking Cholo, no threats, no fear. There was only life and the one he was about to leave behind.
