Amari's hand finds mine, it's muscle memory now as mine threads through his. The butterflies I used to get around him are much fainter now, replaced with a soft warmth as I nestle into his side. "Is this everything you hoped for?" I have to keep myself from melting as he whispers into the shell of my ear. I can feel his gaze, but if I look at him I might completely forget about the stars above us. I crane my head up to the sky, as if the stars are more magnificent above me.
"Yes. Thank you." I breathe, my throat clogged with awe. "The stars look..." I purse my lips, searching for a less generic word than beautiful. "Like dandruff?" he smirks. A wave of surprise rolls through me as I feel him chuckle at my side. I tilt my chin to rest on his shoulder as I look up at him, "No!" I beam "That would be your hair."
"I thought you liked my hair." he smiles down at me, and it's not fair how he doesn't have a double chin at this angle. I thought the stars took my breath away, but damn... those eyes. "I do love your hair." I whisper, my hand shaking as I reach up to push a curl off his forehead. His breath slightly hitches, and his skin feels so warm. He doesn't seem... uncomfortable, so I just let my hand cradle his cheek, my finger tracing down from his prominent cheekbones to his jawline. We usually talk so much, but I'm content with just the crickets and the soft rustling of the trees, and judging by the way his eyes linger on my lips, it doesn't seem like he's in the mood to talk.

They kiss she smiles but then her responsibilities and past crash down on her.
