There was a dog who stayed outside and said that nothing was worth protecting
One day a rabbit came up to the dog
The dog said that it was better to not care than be hurt for others
The rabbit talked to the dog
The rabbit was clumsy
It smiled more than anything the dog had seen
The rabbit had stayed and spoke to the dog
Then one day the had realized that it liked the little rabbit
Then one day the old wolf that lived in the field saw the rabbit
It couldn't stand it
The wolf walked over to the little rabbit and swiped at it
The little rabbit cried out
The dog heard the little rabbit
And so he ran
The dog jumped on the wolf
Growling barking swiping
The old wolf got angry " how dare this dog stop me"
The dog realized what was going to happen
He curled around the little rabbit
The old wolf swiped at the dog
It bit the dog
Growled and howled
But still the dog didn't budge
The old wolf thought he would get the little rabbit later and wandered off
The little rabbit was worried about the dog
But the dog wanted to keep the little rabbit happy
"I'm okay rabbit"
The dog took the rabbit back to his part of the field
Every day after that the old wolf would come back
And every day the dog would get up sometimes strong sometimes shakey
And go meet the wolf where the little rabbit couldn't see
Every time the dog would come back the little rabbit asked him "are you okay"
"I'm fine" said the dog with a little smile
And the dog did this
Again
And again
And again
Then one day the dog grabbed the little rabbit and said that it was time for it to make some friends
The little rabbit was scared
"What if they don't like me" "then find the ones that do"
"What if I am scared" "then be scared, but don't stop trying"
The little rabbit nodded and looked at the dog
"What about you"
"I'll be fine" said the dog
The dog picked up the little rabbit and put it on a boat
The boat sailed and sailed and sailed
When the little rabbit got off the boat it looked around
A pretty field
Lots of trees
And other animals to talk to
Some were mean and some were nice
The little rabbit made friends
But one day the little rabbit saw something
The old wolf had found the little rabbit
The rabbit was scared
What about the friends
The new field
Very quietly another presence moved from behind the little rabbit
One paw then the other till a dog was infront of the little rabbit
It was a younger dog
The dog had scars
And it looked at the little rabbit with kindness
"I'm always here" said the dog
The rabbit calmed down and the dog stepped forward
The old wolf growled at the dog
And the dog growled back
The dog stepped forward
And the wolf stepped back
Once more the dog stepped forward
And once more the wolf stepped back
The old wolf turned and stepped away defeated
The dog turned back to the the little rabbit
The rabbit ran to the dog and was happy to se him
The dog licked the rabbit once stood back up
The rabbit looked scared once more
"Do you have to go"
"I have to live" said the dog
"I'll be scared without you"
" then know that I'm always looking out for you"
" but what if the wolf comes back"
" then I'll come back too"
"Your never alone little rabbit"
The rabbit was sad that the dog was leaving
But was happy because it knew the dog loved it
The dog turned away and started walking
"You don't have to be scared" said the dog
"Because you have the best guard dog ever"
The little rabbit smiled
"I know"
Because my guard dog is the best
