Love presents in so many forms. Sometimes physical touch, maybe kind words, or a favor. Sometimes, it was a brand new gun, like a gift, and promising the shiny bullets in it would take out who we were chasing.
God, I loved Seonghwa. A beauty, he was. I tried not to get lost when his eyes found mine, but I was allowed to be a fool for an angel, wasn't I?
His gloved hands took the new pistol gently, his usual stoic expression breaking into a brief smile as I lifted on my toes to kiss him.
"I told you I'd replace it," I sang.
"I know, honey," He hummed, leaning down to kiss my cheek. It was so easy to forget the man in my trunk when Hwa was being tender. About an hour ago, we'd left the ruins of Obsidian, heading out of the city. We decided that eliminating that building would ensue the chaos we needed to rally Jongho and San. They weren't even going to be at Strategem, so why bother killing them that way? We knew San was getting married, and we also knew that Jongho wouldn't miss that for the world. We knew because Jongho told us. He invited us. We didn't attend since we had our own plans to attend, but why not kill them that way? Show up, crash the party, get it over with? Too many eyes. We wanted to wipe that past, not make a bigger issue. Plus, our bait was a little broken now. I hadn't checked on him since shutting the back hatch, but he was honestly a little grotesque. He looked like a battered zombie, still somehow alive only because his brain was still intact, though shaken. I'd have to admit him to the hospital to keep him alive, but I wasn't as good of an actor as my pretty baby.
"I'm gonna check on Yunho," I said quietly, tucking a piece of Seonghwa's hair behind his ear as he admired my gift. I stepped away from him, glancing around the empty, large parking lot we'd stopped to rest at as I approached the back of my vehicle.
He looked even worse, but now he was unconscious. Cautiously, I reached across his chest, pressing two fingers to his neck. We didn't lose him. I retracted as soon as possible.
"Sweetheart," I called for Hwa, feeling his warm presence behind me before I even looked. "We'll have to get help for him," I pouted a little, stepping back without looking and bumping into him. He wrapped an arm across my chest, guiding my backward and reaching up to shut the hatch for me.
"So be it," He hummed, letting me turn to face him. "We'll say we rushed there. We were outside the city, and we found him like this. He's unrecognizable as of now, so maybe they won't realize who he is. He's on the news, thoug, baby. I can only do so much. And so are we,"
"We'll cover up," I suggested. "Anything happens, we'll handle it,"
"They have my model photos," Seonghwa mentioned. I sighed. "They only have blurry snapshots of you,"
"Then I'll handle everything upfront, honey," My hand naturally drifted to Seonghwa's cheek. "I won't let anything happen to you again,"
"I know," He nodded, glancing at the back glass behind me. "Let's go, then,"
I smiled, hurrying to the passenger side to open Seonghwa's door for him. If Yunho could survive in situations like this, so could chivalry.
Now we had a long way to go until our work was done. First the hospital, then Mingi's cell. We needed another able body, and we figured we could give him enough motivation to listen.
