Hales doesn't yell back. She never yells unless it's necessary. She swings her legs off her bed in a hurry. She stumbles over her suitcase lying on the floor. She looks down. It's opened. Unpacked. The thought of packing made her stomach tie knots.

There is no way I can do this.

I'm not strong enough.

I'll disappoint everyone.

Hales tends to overthink everything.. literally.. everything.

I'll make a total fool of myself.

No one will like me.

I'll have to leave mid year and-

"HALES!"

Before her mind can continue spiraling, she darts down the stairs.

"Well look who finally decided to join us." Her dad says with a straight face.

"Are you ready for tomorrow dear?" Her mother asks.

Hales absentmindedly picks at her food.

"Yeah.. not really." She says softly.

Her mother looks at her with tired eyes.

"Hales, you have to understand we are doing this for your own good.. your only friend is Candyce, we want you to get out more."

Hales looks offended by what she just said.

"Candyce is all I need."

"This is going to be really good for you. I just know it." Her mom says, trying to reassure her.

"Couldn't agree more." She says sarcastically with a fake smile on her face. "I just really don't think I'm- rea-"

"Hales, seriously that's enough bullshit from you. You always have to make everything so difficult. You're going and that's fucking final." Her dad says sternly.

Hales covers her face with her hair and her head droops down. Her eyes begin filling up with tears. She's trying desperately to hold them back, she knows better than to cry where he could see.

The family eats in silence.. and afterwards Hales goes up to her room. Clothes scattered everywhere. She tried putting everything in the suit case, she really did. This is all happening way too fast. She just got the acceptance letter a week ago.

Out of thousands of applicants.. why her? Candyce getting accepted? This made total sense. Her quirk is amazing and incredibly offensive. She's the perfect candidate. Hales sits on the floor, quiet tears escaping her eyes.
