Mariah and Morihito. Even though he was two years older than her, they still had their fun. It's not his fault he got held back, though. Dyslexia makes it hard.
"Moi, come on!! Why are you so so slow?" Mariah yelled
"I'm letting you be fast. And it's Morihito. Not Moi." He said.
"MOOOOO-EEEE" Mariah yelled, exclaiming it and elongating the syllables without a care in the world.
The two were currently six and eight. And the bestest friends. Nothing could stop them. And Mariah adored Morihito. Because he didn't treat her differently from how everyone treated her. Mariah was bullied. A lot. Maybe it was because she was adopted. Or didn't look like she was from here.
Which was true. Mariah was adopted at six months old. But it didn't stop that fact that she was adopted by the sweetest Japanese couple ever and was brought to Japan. Or that she speaks perfect Japanese because that's how she was raised.
She does feel a little self conscious... even at the age of six. But Morihito always made her feel better. Even when he found her crying.
"Wait for me. Actually... let's go get ice cream. My mom gave me ten bucks." Morihito said. Mariah's eyes lit up. "Ice cream!!" She exclaimed. Which only made him laugh. "Last one there is a rotten egg!!" He yelled.
Then Morihito dashed off.
"No! Moi, wait!!"
