Chapter 1: The Girl Who Dreamed of the Moon
The moon was always there.
Every single night.
Watching her.
Han Areum had never understood why.
For as long as she could remember, she had dreamed of the same place.
An endless silver field stretched beneath a sky filled with stars. White flowers bloomed endlessly across the land, dancing softly beneath a gentle wind. Above them hung a massive moon unlike any moon she had ever seen in the human world.
It was beautiful.
Yet terrifying.
Because every time she stood there, someone was waiting for her.
A man.
A tall figure dressed in black armor stood beneath the moonlight. His face was always hidden by shadows, but she could feel his gaze.
Watching her.
Waiting for her.
And every time she tried to approach him—
The dream ended.
Every.
Single.
Time.
"Miss Han! Miss Han!"
A loud voice shattered the dream.
Areum jolted awake.
Her eyes flew open.
The classroom burst into focus.
Students.
Desks.
A projector screen.
The smell of coffee.
And one very annoyed professor.
The entire lecture hall stared at her.
Wonderful.
Absolutely wonderful.
Professor Kim sighed heavily.
"Would you like to share your dream with the class?"
Laughter erupted around the room.
Areum immediately lowered her head.
"No, Professor."
"Then perhaps stay awake during my lecture."
"Yes, Professor."
More laughter.
Areum wanted the floor to swallow her whole.
The professor resumed teaching.
Meanwhile Areum buried her face in her notebook.
Great.
Another embarrassing day.
Just another ordinary day in her very ordinary life.
Or at least...
That was what she thought.
⸻
Three hours later.
The university campus buzzed with students rushing between classes.
Seoul National University stood proudly beneath a bright spring sky.
Cherry blossoms drifted through the air.
Students laughed.
Cars passed.
Life moved on.
Normal.
