Alex Long Shadow, everyday he sat in the same spot in the booth and corner of Miles Diner. He was the cause for me to wonder, every day and he made my heart beat like a drum. It pounded in my chest, as he swiped his hair back. My heart was beating faster and faster, as my eyes peered at him. I swear, I could hear the sound of the pow wow drums as he walked. He wore black dress shoes, to match his suit and pants with a navy tie just like his suit.

I held the order pad up frozen, standing near a table, and the customers looked at me, as I held the pencil.

He was Native American. It had actually been the first time that I have ever seen a real Native American person ever in person. I knew they were around and existed, but I only saw them in the western movies.

The black long straight hair, all the way down, past their shoulders. On their heads, they wore war bonnets, buckskins and fringes. But, I know that was just the movies and television series. There was actually a handsome Native American that was sitting right here in this Diner, and not too far away from me.

The sun shining and burning hot against the glass windows, brightening his eyes even more. Short dark straight black hair.

When I first saw him, I couldn't take my eyes off of him. He was handsome. But strange. He didn't have long hair, it was instead, short hair. Dress shoes, and his attire was a suit and a tie? I was expecting a muscular warrior. No, he wasn't, definitely, not Kokomo from Pocahontas. But, Alex didn't even need to be, because he already had that tribal axe. He didn't have to carry it around with him, he already had the power.

Afar, I was admiring him, for how extremely striking his features were. The tone in his voice, when he spoke to people. He knew everyone in town. He engaged with all of them and walked the streets alone, or sometimes, with his Native brothers.

Polite, and quiet, as he sat and ate and drank. But was an enforcer. If he needed to be, however, I never saw him get angry or yell. Oh, he was quiet, Alex was there alone by himself just sitting there. I often wondered if he ever really wanted company or was lonely, just sitting there. But he seemed to do better being alone. It was cruel of me to say, but I admit that, I would be jealous, if another woman sat at his table. He never came in, with one either, just by himself for breakfast.

The bell chimed, and opened. And, "You Don't Know My Name" by Alicia Keys played as soon as he walked in and his dress shoes touched the floor. I smiled holding my pad and my pen as my heart skipped a beat. Just like a fan in love with their favorite celebrity. Wishing, he would look at me and turn his eyes my way. At least come and talk to me, but he went straight away, to sit down.

My heart beat faster and slowed. I was upstairs singing with my headphones on "Baby, I Swear, Baby I Swear, It Feels, Like, like, ooh (Ooh-ooh-ooh)."

Suga looked up to the ceiling as he heard his grand-daughter and the lights above were flickering and moving back and forth. The sound of the wood creaking and dust dropping while customers also looked up above and heard

They turned and looked at him as he smiled and said with a big smile showing his teeth with his hat on. Lucas Hood was cleaning and raised his eyes up as well, to the ceiling and looked at Suga. Lucas smiled and Suga was still angry

Suga laughed at the customers and tried his hardest to show he was smiling but he was agitated by his grand-daughters singing.

"Hee, Hee, that's my grand-daughter."

He then said, "Lovely voice ain't it? She can sing, can't she?"

Suga looked up again "RUBY, SWEET-HEART, TURN THAT MUSIC DOWN!"

He yelled, as everyone in the bar looked at him.

"Sorry about that, everyone." Suga said

I began to look at the schedule, against the kitchen wall. I glanced at him and then it. Slowly, placing my fingers on the day he was present and the date and looking to my right and left and taking out my little votum notebook with dividers, and, on the cover print red cherries and golden bows.

I memorized the days, that he came in and the times. I asked and did my best to work on those days. But, I didn't mind or care if I had to work and take extra shifts then, it would be worth it, to be serving Alex.
