Danny's pov
"Yo, Danny boy." My friend's voice echoed, slowly approaching me in the park. "I heard you're leaving us for America."
"Ty, you know it ain't my choice." I answered as he sat next to me.
"But you could have at least told us instead of us finding out from the news." Ty said, punching my arm. "Hell, you didn't even tell us your mum owned Entech."
"You think I want to tell people my mum's rich while I live in a place where people already want to stab me?" I answered. Ever want to get stabbed? Let a British Road man know you're carrying more money then they've ever seen when you're going to buy crisps from the shop. Or as Americans call them, 'chips'. I knew that would take ages to get used to. Hell it isn't even 'mum' in America, it's 'mom'.
"Good point." Ty said. "Don't you owe Kenzie 50 quid?"
"Yep." Kenzie said, seemingly appearing from thin air before taking a seat next to me on the ground. "Couldn't have atleast paid me back?"
"Thought it'd be funny to keep trying to find excuses not to." I answered. "Kinda stopped having good ones a while ago, though."
"What was your last one?" Kenzie asked.
"Dog ate my money." I answered. "Before you say I don't have a dog I never said it was my dog." As I spoke, I threw the money that I owed Kenzie at him.
"This is double what you owe." Kenzie stated.
"Interest." I shrugged. "Learn how loans work."
"I thought the person you loan money from sets the interest rate?" Kenzie pointed out.
"I also need to learn how loans work." I laughed.
"You need to learn in general." Kenzie said plainly as he pocketed the money.
"That's how you treat a friend that's leaving?" I said with false hurt. "You're killing me here, Kenzie."
"What are you? 5?" Kenzie asked.
"No, I'm 15." I said. "I thought you knew me better."
"Piss off." Kenzie said.
"I mean, that is what he's doing right?" Ty joked.
"Have you talked to Annie about this yet?" Kenzie asked.
"Of course I have. She's my girlfriend. She knew almost instantly." I said.
"How is she taking the news?" Ty asked.
"Well, she-"
"Is here." Annie interrupted.
"'sup bell." Ty said
"Hi, Ty. Would you two mind giving me and Danny some space to talk?" She said, looking at Ty and Kenzie.
"Yeah, sure." Ty said. "C'mon, dipshit." Kenzie reluctantly got up and followed after Ty as they both went to the other side of the park.
"Hi, Annie." I said as she simply stared at me. "Are you okay?"
"I don't know, duck." Annie said. 'duck' has been her nickname for me since we were 9. I fell in a duck pond. She would always call me 'lucky ducky' whenever something went my way.
"Talk to me." I said.
"You're leaving. And I don't know if we can work with that." Annie said, sitting next to me with her head hung.
"Why can't we? I can still call you." I said. "I'll still have my phone."
"Your mum gonna be happy with that?" Annie asked.
"Is my mum ever happy?" I answered. Annie laughed.
"Good point." Annie said.
"Besides, I'll just sneak out the house if I have to." I stated. "I'm good at sneaking out, it's how I'm here." I laughed.
"Not like she pays much attention." Annie pointed out. She wrapped her arm around me like I was the only thing stopping her from falling off a cliff. "I love you, duck, ya fuckin' Muppet."
"Love you too." I answered.
"When do you leave?" She asked.
"The flight is tonight. I plan to sleep through the flight. Can't exactly use my phone on a plane." I said. "I'll call you once I'm at my new house, 'kay?"
"Okay." As she spoke, she hugged me tightly once more and stood up. "You'll come back eventually, right?"
"Of course." I answered. And with that, she smiled and walked away.
I needed to go get ready... Tomorrow is another day.
