General POV
Valkyrie stood outside the sanctuary. She glanced around. Why was she at the sanctuary? That's right. Skul had asked to meet her there. She pushed open the door, and walked in, but stopped in shock as the scenery changed. She was at a church. She shivered, as the memory finally clicked; she was at the church where she woke the grotesquerie. Suddenly, she was shivering in fright, sweat pouring down her pale clammy face.
"Skul!" She yelled, wanting nothing more than to see his calming 'face'."SKULDUGGERY!" She screamed, desperation flowing through her. There was a flicker in the shadow, and she flinched, letting out an involuntary whimper. The shadow was approaching her, and she gasped when she saw who it was.
"Darquesse." She whispered, and the woman before her cracked into a sneer.
"My dear valkyrie, how good to meet you in person!" She mocked, and Valkyrie let out a sob. Darquesse laughed, a cold, dark laugh, and Valkyrie cried out.
"SKULDUGGERY!" She screamed again, and darquesse just laughed louder.
"The skeleton! Oh my dear Valkyrie, you have fallen in love with a skeleton. He doesn't even like you, you do realise. He hates you. You burden his life, just a parasite following him around like a dog. PATHETIC." she spits, and Valkyrie sinks to the ground. Darquesse laughed again, and kicked her ribs, making Valkyrie hiss in pain.
"Please, stop." She whispered, and Darquesses face lit up in sick delight.
"Oooo, are you going to beg now. Yes, beg for me to leave you alone, beg for me to not hurt the skeleton, beg for me to not show him what you REALLY are!" She hisses in delight, and Valkyries head snaps around.
"What. What have you done to skulduggery. LET HIM GO, OR I SWEAR I WILL KILL YOU." she screams feebly, only resulting in laughter from the shadows.
"You kill me? You, the weakling, lying on the ground, kill me, the world destroyer? HA, don't even dream. But go on. You can try to beat me. It delights me to hurt you." She gloats, and Valkyrie let out a guttural scream, charging at her smug face. Darquesse whipped up her hand, and shadows stabbed at Valkyrie, sending fire blossoming through her core. She let lose a blood curdling scream, and just as Darquesses sneering face went in for the kill...
She woke up.
"Val, Valkyrie wake up!" Skulduggery shouted, cradling Valkyrie in his lap. Valkyrie was panting and shaking, lost in the world of her nightmare. Skulduggery cursed and called Valkyries name again.
"Come on Val, come on, I need you." He yelled, and finally Valkyrie responded. She bolted up, lunging for the car door, she ran to the side of the road, and bent over, retching and emptying the contents of her stomach onto the grass. Skulduggery came up behind her, and held her raven black hair away from her mouth. Once she was finally done, she wiped her mouth, turned, and collapsed. Skulduggery ofcourse caught her, and sat them both down. Valkyrie clutched his suit, tears streaming down her face, and skulduggery just held her and whispered consoling words, stroking her face. Once Valkyrie had calmed down, skulduggery picked her up bridal style, and took her to the car. Valkyries eyes were going blank, and she was shivering. Sometimes she would murmur something, or shake her head, and skulduggery's worry grew.
"Hey val, do Ya wanna stay at my house tonight?" He asked softly, and she nodded, giving a tight smile to skulduggery.
"Thank you." She whispered once again, then her face contorted, and she gasped.
"No, your wrong!" She shouted, and skulduggery quickley put her in the car, speeding to his house. When they arrived, he pulled the small figure of Valkyrie Cain out of the car and to the house. He then carried her up to bed with him, placing her down gently on his bed. He didn't think it would be weird. He brushed a piece of hair from her forehead, and turned to go, when a small voice called out, "no. Please stay with me Skul. Please." Skulduggery looked in sorrow at Valkyrie, who had been reduced to this shivering heap because, he suspected, of Darquesse. There was no question about the answer he was going to give her; she needed someone, and plus, he liked the way Valkyrie sat against his bones.
"Okay." He replied softly, and he could just make out Valkyries smile. He eased himself onto the bed, Valkyrie slumped beside him, her head resting on his collarbone. She finally seemed at peace, and as her breathing started to go even, skulduggery found himself humming 'me and mrs jones.' And all of a sudden, he found himself falling for Miss Valkyrie Cain.

Yyyyaaaaaayyy! Guys, I have just done two updates in one night, I am feeling good! Soooo, how did you like the Darquesse scene! I have to say the sad truth, I've never actually read a Darquesse moment in the skulduggery books*sheepish grin*... Anyways, I hope u allll liked that, I will try to update ASAP, but I just realised I have three books that I am currently writing
*sigh* why do I do this to myself? So PLZ COMMENT THOUGHTS, IDEAS, ANYTHING, I DONT CARE!!! Anyways, have a good night/day, and hope to hear from all you fey minions soon!+sp
