He didn't know what time it was. He no longer even knew what day it was. He couldn't remember the last time he had gone above ground - he had broken his rule of leaving the lab at least three times a week a long time ago. But how long? That, he didn't know.

The office connected to the lab had undergone a massive transformation. In fact, everything related to the laboratory had changed - only the village and the reactor remained untouched. The truth was that for the first time, the reactor had ceased to be of key importance to Multi. Uranium research had moved to the background, if not abandoned entirely.

It had lost its meaning in light of his new project - DNA manipulation.

When Multi began working on DNA a few weeks ago, he hadn't even dreamed of what he would achieve. The first few samples were successes, of course, and pushed the work forward, but all of that was a trifle compared to what he discovered after the extraction of Quackity's DNA. What he found changed the course of history.

When you have someone's DNA, you basically hold their whole life. You can control not just them, but how everyone else responds to them. It's all about knowing how to exploit it - knowing what to combine, and where to push.

And Multi knew. For a while, was the only one who knew, and that made him someone to whom the weak were ready to pay homage, even if they didn't know it yet. And this? This made him something akin to a God.

However, everything changed the moment Multi reached out his hand to Quackity. At that moment, with his whole being, he desired for them to be in this together. For him to stand by his side and gain ever-greater power with him. The world lay open before Multi, and he wanted to seize everything he could, but only on the condition that the boy accompanied him.

That is why he agreed to his terms. He agreed to show him everything he had discovered so far and teach him everything he knew himself. He watched with pride as the man spent long hours in the lab they shared with growing passion. Pure joy filled his cold heart as he observed Quackity's first independent research yielding satisfying results.

And later, he watched as he built his own laboratory, following in Multi's footsteps step by step. Finally, Quackity possessed all the equipment the scientist had. But Multi didn't mind - after all, that was the deal. DNA for DNA - a sacrifice that was worth everything that had been discovered.

Somewhere along the way, however, something between them changed. Quackity came to Multi's lab less and less frequently; he began to disappear for days at a time. He contacted him less often, and when he did, he seemed cold and uninterested in the scientist.

It didn't take long for Multi to realize that something much bigger was behind it. Because Quackity wasn't following in Multi's footsteps at all. Creating a superhuman was not the main goal of his research. That wasn't what he was working on during those long hours when he secluded himself away from everyone.

Quackity realised that instead of creating weapons against those who are disobedient... you could simply make them obedient. Perfect puppets, moved only by his hands, for he did not plan to share his work with Multi. This achievement belonged to him and him alone.

Multi was wrong. There could not be two Gods.

Access to DNA allowed Quackity to develop a non-invasive method for controlling the nervous system. In this way, he discovered something that even Multi didn't know, who until then had to use chips for this purpose. Those, in turn, were not 100% effective, which meant that for the first time, Multi was a step behind another scientist.

Of course, catching up with Quackity didn't take him long - he managed to produce an identical substance capable of controlling the nervous system - but that wasn't the point. It was about a show of strength. Because then Multi felt that he was no longer the best. That he was no longer invincible.

Then he also understood that Quackity was no longer the same person he had been before asking for help. He was no longer his ally, his fully trusted person who would follow him even to the end of the world.

Quackity's goal was different from Multi's, making the latter realize that everything they had had just come to an end. He couldn't cooperate with a man who desired to be on the Federation's side and use their resources. Quackity himself didn't quite understand why, but a part of him lived that commanded him to destroy everything related to the Federation.

Even if it meant destroying Multi as well.

Because there could only be one God.
