Coraline: The Return

Pt1 - 3:13 AM

Sep 9th 2010

It's been one year since Coraline escaped
from that monster. She's doing her hardest trying to forget everything and start over. With her parents not believing a word, it's pretty easy. She still lives in the Pink Palace in a small town in the United States called
Ashland, Oregon, but everything has changed — or
so she thinks. The walls are painted clean white.
There is nice new furniture, and nice bright
flowers blow in the breeze. They even adopted a
pet cat; she's a British Shorthair. Her name is
Valentina with a beautiful white coat.

Coraline misses the black cat; he stopped visiting a long time ago.
Coraline doesn't know why. She just knows she
misses him to bits. Wybie and his grandma also left a little while back, shortly after everything happened. Well, that's what she thinks, all their stuff is still there but they never are. She misses him too. Miss Spink and Miss Forcible are still here; they never really leave their home, so Coraline doesn't speak to them much. Same thing about Mr. Bobinsky. He comes out more often though.

It's 5:47 PM right now in Oregon. Rainy, foggy,
and cold. Coraline is in her room playing with
Valentina. Her mum is in the kitchen, making a
nice stew for dinner. Her dad is in his office; he doesn't really pay attention to her that often. Nothing's changed.

6:09 PM
Her mum calls her down for dinner. She makes
her way downstairs, sitting down as Valentina
trails after her. As they are eating, Coraline hears
a slight scraping noise coming from the direction
where the little door was before they
blocked it off. Coraline looks confused as she
looks into the living room in that direction, then
looks back to her parents.

"Hey Mum, do you hear that?" she says, looking
back in that direction.

"Hear what?" her mum asks, looking confusedly
into the same direction. Then, for a second, her mum hears it too, then it stops.

"Strange. We might have mice again," her mum says. "Dad can check it out later."

Her dad couldn't care less. He's just minding his
own business, eating.

Coraline tries to let it go, but every once in a while, she peeks in that direction.

6:40 PM
Coraline is in her room now, sitting on her bed
with Valentina watching TV, when her mum comes in
holding a handful of laundry.

"Bedtime 9:00 PM tonight," she says as she puts
Coraline's uniform on her dressing table.

"Ughhh, why do I still even have a bedtime? I'm
12 not 8?," Coraline says as she rolls her eyes.

"Rules are rules."

"And you've got school."

"Now go and take a bath."

*Sighs*. "Fine," Coraline nudges Valentina off her
lap as she stands up.

7:40 PM
Coraline enters her room, her hair slightly damp,
wearing cozy striped blue pjs. She's munching
on a small cup of strawberries. As Coraline came in
in, she spotted Valentina lying on her bed. She
walks over and lies down as well, grabbing the
TV remote from next to her to switch on the TV.

8:56 PM
Just as Coraline is switching the show, her mum
walks in.

"Bedtime. Time to shut the TV off," she says,
holding her hand out, waiting for Coraline to pass
the remote. Coraline passes the remote, then lies down.

"Night, love you," Coraline says while she's trying
to get comfy.

"Goodnight, I love you too," her mum says as she
leans over to kiss Coraline on the head.

Her mum walks out, turning off the lights.

Coraline leans over to turn her night-light on
before she closes her eyes.

3:13 AM
It's 3:13 AM. Coraline is in a light sleep when suddenly
she jerks awake to a loud bang downstairs. She
gasps as she jumps up slightly. She sits there listening out for a minute until...

The same scraping noise from earlier starts again.
But louder...

Does she check it out?

first story on here😬 I have a good idea for the next chapter thoughhh😏 bc this was More like a get to know her life now and a day                             in the life😭 byeee)
