mayea always felt out of place.

as the eldest daughter of toruk makto, she had to push down those feelings a pray to eywa.

she kept to herself. when her younger siblings, neteyem, loak, kiri, tuk, and their friend spider, would go out and do things around hometree, she would stay back and work on her bow.

she thrived to be better. mayea craved the feeling of acceptance. she wanted people to like her.

she craved the feeling of love, as well. though, she had never been in a relationship. she never felt drawn to anyone. she always figured she just was bound to be alone. most navi at her age were already mated.

she was only a year older than her brother, neteyam, who was 17.

he was the sibling everyone loved. everyone looked up to him. even her younger siblings looked up to him. sometimes, she wished that she could be him. she wished everyone looked up to her. she was the eldest daughter of neytiri and jake sully, everyone was supposed to go to her, not the middle child of jake and neytiri.

she felt so guilty for feeling such way. she envied her own brother.

mayea's other brother, loak, was looked down on. he was always causing trouble wherever he went. loak was not the cautious type. he was impulsive. he never thought of what the effect of his actions were.

mayea understood him though. she understood why he is the way is.

her two sisters, kiri and tuk, had eachother. they rarely ever asked mayea for anything. most of the time, kiri and tuk would go out and do things without mayea.

her father, jake sully, the toruk makto, had high expectations. she pushed herself so hard. she desired the acceptance of her father. yet, she always seemed to let him down.

neytiri, her beloved mother, was gentle. she understood mayea. mayea never knew if her mother was more loving towards her because she was her firstborn or if it was because she took her genes. mayea had 3 fingers, along with neteyam and tuk.

mayea hated it. she hated that she pushed everyone away. she hated that she was so self centered and was so worried about what everyone else thought of her, that she ruined her bond with her own family.

the only thing she hadn't pushed away was the forest.

her forest.

she found comfort in the sound of the wind. she heard her ancestors voice in the breeze. mayea could understand the animals and their calls.

so when she stood and watched the sky people burn the forest, something inside her flickered.

anger, sadness, and fear surged through her veins. a deadly mixture.

tears brimmed her eyes as she stood beside her mother, who was collapsing into jakes arms in tears.

mayea refused to let her tears fall. she needed to prove she was a strong warrior, and warriors dont cry.
