I had tricked the bikers into thinking I had ran down a street, when I had only jumped in a ditch. They all pass, and I wait a little while before climbing out. I check my watch, and it says five. I have been running for about an hour or two. I sit there in the ditch regaining my breath, and I climb out. I look around and recognize the place. I turn and start walking back to the warehouse, and eat an orange as I go.
I arrive back at the warehouse as the sun starts to drop, and I climb through the hole in the roof. I see the people glance up at me, and they all go towards the middle of the warehouse. They all talk there with a few of them glancing up at me every now and then. I know what's wrong, and I don't blame them. A random girl jumps their fence, and they are worried I might steal or something like that. I wait on the beam, and I brought some sticks up here to make them for arrows, I have been needing for a while now. I slide my knife across the sticks to make them straight, and make the indents needed. The group of people head for the metal stairs, and I spot Jake at the end of the group. They all fill into the small room, and Mick, the woman with Jahmar, and Jahmar are the closest ones to the window. They look me up and down, and I put my things away knowing the look on an adult's face of when it's serious. I stand up, and wait for them.
"You seem aware of what is going on," the woman says. I nod, and shift my weight.
"Do you know what we are worried about?" Jahmar asks. I shake my head, and glance at Jake.
"Well we believe that you might be working with the bikers," Mick says, and I guess I must looked surprised because they all glance at each other.
"Are you?" the woman asks, and I shake my head violently.
"Then why haven't you shown us where you get the food?" Mick asks annoyed. I tap my watch trying to get them to understand.
"You have a schedule, because it sure looks like it. You scurry out of here, and return at certain time," Jahmar explains. I shake my head, tap my watch and point towards the north.
"It is only there at certain times?" the woman ask, and I hit my forehead. I tap my watch and point outside.
"You only have a little amount of time?" someone guesses. I shake my head, and give up. I drop my hands to my side, and they all start talking to one another. I sit on the edge of the beam, and lock eyes with Jake. I tap my watch just so he can see it, and I glance north. He shakes his head, and I give up completely. I lay back, and they all start walking away. Jake waits till the others have left, and he walks over to the window.
"Why'd you risk getting caught by the bikers for us?" he asks, and I take out my notebook.
"You all gave me a place to stay, I'm just trying to repay you," I scribble it down, and pass it to him. I walk away as he reads it. I settle down against the beam, and fall asleep.
The quiet beeping of my watch wakes me, and I cover the green glow of it. I get up, and see a small light coming from one of the rooms they all sleep in. I climb through the window, and down the steps quiet. I wonder over to the little light, and see Mick, Jake, Jahmar, and the woman at a small table. I knock on the door quiet, they all jump, and look at me.
"You're up early," the woman says in a pleasant way that sounds odd for me. I shrug, and point at the doors to the warehouse.
"You going out?" Jake asks. I nod, and point at all of them then the door.
"I don't get what you're trying to say," Jahmar says leaning against the table. I grab Jake's wrist and tow him towards the doors. The others follow a little suspicious. I stop and point at the door then him.
"You want us to follow?" Jake finally gets it. I nod, and look at the others.
"You're going to show us what you do?" Mick says with a hint of excitement. I nod again relieved they finally got it. I wait at the doors while they wake everyone else up. They explain where they are going, and decide that Mick, Jahmar, and the woman named Margit are coming with me. I shake my head, and point at Jake. He has to come or I don't show them.
"You want me to come?" he says surprised. I nod, and look at Mick. I stand my ground not moving even though they're ready.
"Alright, Jake get ready," Mick doesn't sound happy at all, but I don't care. Jake hurries off, and comes back with a jacket and backpack like the others. I slide out of a loss part of the wall, and they take a while to get out of the warehouse because of the door. I jump the gate as they walk out of the warehouse. The gate makes a scream as they push it open. I wait on the road as they slide out of the gate's opening. They walk over to me, and I point north.
"Yes, we're ready," Margit replies. I turn and start walking. I check my watch as I walk. I turn east. I want to show them what the bikers do to captures. I glance at Jake, and I realize it will be harder to sneak past the biker since there's more of us. I motion them to keep up, and I start at a jog to get to the building I need.
We reach the tall building, and I glance at them all. They are huffing, and trying to catch their breaths. I motion for them to follow, and I start to climb up the building.
"Do we have to climb?" Margit complains, and I nod. They start climbing, and I never knew people could climb so slow. They reach the top after a long time, and I'm waiting at the edge. I point at a building, and hand Mick my binoculars. Inside the building are people of all sorts, some old, young, teenagers, adults.
"What is this?" Mick asks passing the binoculars. I don't look at him, and I can't look away from her. I can't look away from the one I swore I would keep away from harm. Someone grabs my shoulder and I jump.
"There's someone in there that you know, isn't there?" Jake asks when I look at him. I look back at the building and nod. I hear the bikers coming, and slide back away from the side. The others do the same.
"What do they want with those people?" Margit asks with pain in her voice. I pull out the notebook.
"To hold them against the group. In other words control," I show her the piece of paper.
"What do they do if they don't cooperate?" Jahmar asks worried. I point at the bikers as the yank a woman out of the building. They throw her on the ground, and pull a gun out. They aim it at her, and she screams but a gunshot cuts her off. They all jump and stare at the woman's body.
"Why do you watch this?" Mick growls at me, and I shoot him a look. I look back at the building, as they lock the doors again, and toss the body into a yard out of the road.
"Is this why you stole those?" Jake asks.
"Stole what?" Margit asks.
"I have a reason for everything I do," I scribble on the notebook. The bikers leave, and I motion for them to stay here. I scramble down the side of the building, and run over to the store's window. I look through it and find her fast. Everyone in the store is trying to get me to free them. They all know what will happen if they are here to long. I can already hear the dogs in the other building barking their heads off, and the bikers can hear the dogs. I run to the door and pull the keys out. I shove them in trying them, but I see the bikers coming.
"Run," the people are shouting. I lock eyes with the girl for a second, and I pocket the keys. I bolt off, and glance up at Jake. They're watching from atop of the building. The bikers are at the building now, and one of them has let the dogs out. I keep running with the dogs and bikers gaining. I bolt into an alley, and climb a wall with the dogs jumping up for me. The bikers are running into the alley, but I disappear on to the roof just as they get beneath me. I look up at Jake and the others. A gunshot explodes into the air, and I scramble across the rooftops. I scramble up the tall building avoiding being spotted, and I crawl on to the roof. They are all looking at me like I'm the one who killed that woman. I glare at them, and walk over to the edge. I hate it when I can't get them out then they pay the price. They get hit or cut, when they see me at the building messing with the door.
"You don't have to do this," Margit says and puts a hand on my shoulder. Anger floods into me, and I stand up and shove her. She stumbles backwards, and Jahmar catches her. I glare at her for a minute, and turn back to the building.
