The sea had always felt like home.
It whispered beneath the Jolly Roger, waves brushing against the hull like secrets waiting to be told. You stood at the railing, fingers curled into the worn wood, the salty wind tangling through your hair.
"Careful, love."
Your father's voice came from behind you—low, familiar, steady.
You didn't turn. "I'm not going to fall."
"Hmm." Hook stepped beside you anyway, resting his hand near yours. "It's not the fall I'm worried about."
You raised an eyebrow. "Then what?"
His jaw tightened slightly. "What might be waiting below."
That was... odd.
Before you could ask, a sudden gust of wind swept across the deck—sharp, unnatural. The lanterns flickered violently. The sea stilled.
And then—
A shadow stretched across the ship.
Not cast by anything. Not natural.
Alive.
You felt it before you saw him.
A presence.
Ancient. Watching.
Amused.
"Captain."
The voice was smooth. Dangerous. Familiar in a way that made your skin prickle.
Your father froze.
Slowly, you turned.
And there he was.
Peter Pan.
Leaning casually against the mast like he owned the world, green eyes glinting with something unreadable—something dark. His gaze slid past your father...
...and landed on you.
Everything seemed to stop.
His expression changed—not shock, not confusion.
Interest.
Slow. Deliberate. Almost... hungry.
"Well," he murmured, tilting his head. "That's unexpected."
Hook stepped in front of you instantly. "You have no business here, Pan."
Peter didn't even look at him.
He was still staring at you.
"You never told me," he said softly, "that you had something so... beautiful hidden away."
Your stomach dropped.
Hook's voice turned deadly. "Watch your tongue."
But Peter only smiled.
Not kindly.
Never kindly.
"Oh, I intend to do far more than that."
The air grew heavier.
Tense.
Charged.
Peter finally shifted his gaze back to Hook, something sharp flashing behind his eyes.
"A deal is a deal," he said lightly. "And I do hate waiting."
Your heart skipped. "What deal?"
Hook didn't answer.
That was enough to make fear crawl up your spine.
Peter sighed, almost bored. "A century ago, your father begged for his brother's life." He took a slow step forward. "And I, being the generous soul that I am, granted it."
