Ahh, College.

Quite the step forward within your life isn't it? Something worth being complimented and congratulated over? A time where you decide your future and the fate that it may hold? Yes, it all seems so cinematic.

...

Yet, you have this undeniable urge to drop out.

Even better, you've only made it towards your sophomore year. Just having that urge brings about guilt, and embarrassment.

And your family? Oh you can only imagine how they'd revel in your possible failure at such an inconvenient time. You can remember very vividly of the argument that ensued before your departure for college.

"Majoring in biology for the sole purpose of... botany?!" they'd exclaim. "You could put that to something of more use instead, like a career in the medical field!" Alas, you clearly were not interested in every parent's dream of becoming doctor or nurse of the sort.

But you'd rather not reminisce over something that gets you frustrated at the mere thought. Instead, you'd rather talk about something positive.

Like your new friend Yesod! Nevermind the fact that he actually never refers to you as his friend himself. The violet haired individual was surprisingly not as stuck up as he seemed originally. Again, not as stuck up. He certainly had his moments. The green haired drunkard that sat behind you two, would often refer to him as a "viper" or "a nerd with a stick up his ass!"

Ah, his name was something that sounded like... 'nutsack?' Oh yes I remember now. Netzach. Out of the many individuals that Yesod conversed with, Netzach seemed to be the closest to him, as he'd grown used to his snappy behavior. During a conversation with him, he told you about his major, computer science.

Although, you certainly could've made it without his unusually sluggish behavior. And... the undeniable stench of beer lingering from his breath. But you suppose he wasn't a bad guy, rather funny too. He probably doesn't notice you, but you often catch him at times, sneakily drinking with some red haired smoker.

Now, now. Enough about him. We're here to talk about your new 'friend.'

———
You two first met during the end of the freshmen year, during the period of constructing next semester's schedules. At this school, the seniors, military, and students of veterans got first pick of classes, then went down in order, all the way to freshmen.

Unfortunately, making a schedule at this rate was hell. You tried to talk to your advisor, Ms. Faust about it, but she has told you that "there was nothing that could be done at this rate." You sighed, ultimately having to put extra classes that did not benefit you, onto your roster.

Just as she had departed, you unexpectedly heard an almost faint grumble just a few computers down from you.

"Huh?" You muttered to yourself.

...

There he was. Yesod also seemingly constructing his schedule for next semester. He appeared to be just as frustrated as you with the limited classes.

Inspecting closer, you noticed his brown eyes, seemingly with a gold hue imbued. His unusually violet hair color (well there are plenty with unusual hair), which was short and slightly covering his right eye. It looked very well maintained, perhaps he took the time to nearly perfect the look. An apparent look of frustration coated his features.

That's when you noticed his seemingly... posh attire. 'Does he know that we're able to dress as we please, right?' You thought to yourself. You assumed he was from some arrogant rich family. He wouldn't be one of the first here.

That's when his voice quickly snapped you out of your thoughts.

"Is there something the matter? You have been staring at me like some fool."

Ah, shit.

You opened your mouth to say something, but you were ultimately too embarrassed and slightly ashamed to form a coherent sentence.

Great. You'd been caught staring at a stranger for god knows how long, probably coming off as a weird or rude individual.

Oddly, his features relaxed just a bit once he noted his volume and saw your 'seemingly-dumbfounded-but-embarrassed-and-trying-to-find-words,' kind of look.

He sighs before muttering a small, "My apologies..." and turning back to focus on his computer screen.

"Hey wait. Are you perhaps majoring in biology as well?" You finally found some words. He raises a brow at your sudden question before answering with his arms in his usual fold.

"You would be correct." He states plainly. "But it appears this university had other plans for me." You could see he was restraining himself from saying anymore than he should.

"I understand, I'm in the same predicament. Perhaps we could-"

"No."

...

Well, damn.

"Oh..."

But you wouldn't back down.

"Hey, you could at least listen for a moment." You responded, also growing irritated.

"Fine, I'll indulge you." He sighs once more.

"The least we could do is find classes that the both of us could take. Familiarity is always good, no? Besides, it's only two classes we could take together." You explained, a bit nervous.

"Familiarity, when we've just met mere moments ago?" He scoffed.

"Oh hell, you get my point don't you?" Your thinning patience very evident.

He pondered for a moment before reluctantly agreeing. "I suppose it's only for a few months..." He mutters, appearing as if he's been defeated.

...

"Wait just a moment..." He interjected during the schedule making montage. "Arts... from 11:00-12:30. Why does that sound familiar?" He mutters, lost in thought.

That's when he appeared.

"Yo Yesod, Arts from 11:00-12:30? Welcome to the crew bud." The green haired individual you now knew as Netzach chimed in, wrapping his arm around Yesod's neck.

You weren't looking initially, but you could have sworn you saw a brief look of horror etched onto Yesod's face.

Boy oh boy, what a semester we're going to have...

Yesod seemed like such a stuck up individual. Snappy for no apparent reason. But for some reason... the way he looks at you says otherwise. There's something masked behind his behavior. Dare I say... need? Desire? Longing?
