Chapter one ._.

"Mio, pack your bags" I turned around swiftly. There is no other Mio at this office, once I make a full 360 I see the manager looking right at me.

"You aren't a good fit for this job, we will need you to leave the office by the end of today" My pencil was still balancing on top of my lip and honestly I was too shocked to drop it. I won this job, and as well as that I need it too. I hated how manager was acting way too serious. This place is my life, well I mean I don't love it. The pay isn't the best after all. I didn't even do anything wrong.

"Drop the pencil" The pencil fell to the ground, just like my future. "Mio, your fired"

I suppose I don't have the greatest work ethic... I mess around, I'm lazy, and I honestly don't know why I still got paid at that point. One day I wanted to leave this accounting firm on my own terms and be free from this office. It seemed it was too late. After all, I had been declined from every job possible. I just got out of high school recently. Maybe like one, two or maybe ten years ago. Ok, ok not quite RECENTLY but you get the point. As of being a recent graduate without a degree in hand it's quite difficult to be hired from a moderate paying job. And it's not like I don't have any qualities. I can use a computer without explosion and I somewhat studied French in middle school (not like I remember a thing though). Why wouldn't someone hire a tech savvy, bilingual person like me? You can't blame me, I took an eight year gap year before I even considered applying for a job. Well as expected I wasn't the one who wanted the job, my parents kicked me out. "Get out Mio, and earn some money!" They would continue to say at least once a week, "If you don't get a job anytime soon you're out of the house!".

Now, now I highly doubt that they would allow their precious son to live on the streets and fend for himself. Surely I could live on their money for the rest of my life. But NO apparently it had been too long. So I had to pack my bags and move out. I didn't want to live on the streets with the dirt and no where to sleep. So I crashed onto my high school buddy's couch. He was so glad I came back to see him and also to be living in his apartment with him. This is what I recall.

-Around two years ago-

"Hey there Raymond! Nice to see you again after what? Eight years?!" I was at the door of my good friend whom I haven't seen since high school. I was glad I had found the address of his apartment, I had spotted him after walking by and asked a neighbour of his about which apartment he was at. That neighbour had been so kind to me.

His apartment was one of the boring street ones. Though Raymond wasn't the richest he was doing better than me. His apartment was on the bottom floor, I'm guessing he was still weary of heights. At least he had a stable job and a highly pleasurable work ethic and quite the gentlemen. We weren't the closest during high school but I was pretty sure I was quite nice to him.

"M-mio? Why are you here? You bullied me all throughout high school." Raymond pushes up his black rimmed glasses. They were rectangles now, but back in high school they were circular. One small change can differ the appearance immensely.

"You dyed your hair completely... and it's fully blue. You look completely different now but I still recognise you"

Raymond leans in closer so he could have a clearer look at my vibrant hair but not very shocked at the change,

"Mio, you also grew out your hair! It looks great on you!"

"Thank you", I looked around wearily. Raymond has always kept his hair at a perfect length and always dressed in a formal matter. It was so stupid I thought.

"I actually can't afford a haircut at the moment, money has been err... tight"

"Oh my sister works as a hairdresser! She can give you a discount." Raymond responds with a tight smile.

"I forgot to ask... where abouts do you live?"

I think for a while. He wasn't sure if Raymond would allow me to crash over at his place.

"I live around here" I managed to reply.

"Oh, did you move here recently?" Raymond asked way too cheerfully.

"I guess you could say that"

"That's nice... Thank you for coming, and for just saying hello!" Raymond reaches out for the door, about to close it on me.

"I was gonna ask to crash at your place though?" I stumbled to say. Surely Raymond couldn't say no to my wonderful face.

"HUH?! WHAT NO?!"

I was right! Raymond seems eccentric about my living situation.

"Your apartment is massive! I'm sure it can fit both of us!"

"It really isn't"

"Please, Im begging" I kneel down like a beggar "My parents kicked me out and I don't have anywhere to go"

"Do you even have a job?"

We just stare at each other for a couple seconds. Was it really a big problem that I was unemployed?

"No" I pause and think what words sound the most convincing thing to say, "I don't have a job"

"Have you been searching for one"

"No..."

"Not like you have the qualities for anyone to hire you anyway" I hear Raymond whisper. I guess he was right but it never really bothered me much,

"Ok, here's the plan" Raymond decided. I hoped he would allow me to live in his apartment until I found a more stable situation. "You can crash on the couch but there are some really simple conditions" Raymond cleared his throat "One- you have to help with chores" He pointed at the kitchen "Two my house, my rules." He stared at me a little too hard "Three... you have to be searching for a job."

"Wha-" I thought I could get through my whole life without a working day. I guess that now that I think about it, that sounds a little bit unrealistic. I guess I could survive with a job. It would be nice to earn some money. Unless... I could pretend to be job searching and just play video games all day instead.

"And yes, I know what you are thinking..." Raymond does that stupid anime thing where they pull up their glasses and look like a person with power "You will actually be looking for a job... no pretending and playing video games instead" Ah he knew me so well.

"Well Mio, welcome to my home!" Spreading his arms into the air like a king, Raymond says way too proudly.

"You mean OUR home" I exclaim cheerfully. I think I might enjoy this, I guess getting kicked out from my parents house wasn't so bad.

"No, just my home"

NOTE- this chapter may seem short but in the future it would get longer ._.
