They say love is this amazing thing, where people actually care about each other. (I love you) Is supposed to mean you don't want anything bad to happen to your partner. That you plan to stay, to be there if bad stuff does happen.
If you told me a week ago that love was some cruel joke, I wouldn't have believed it. I would have said that you haven't met me and Lucas.
Every time me and Lucas were alone together, you couldn't pull us apart. The kisses were warm and excited me in a way I've never been excited before. Every touch was electric. Every (I love you) sent shivers down my back.
But then Friday came around. And I found Lucas talking to his friends in the school hallway. Lucas was telling his friends that the only reason he was with me is so he could lose his virginity. He even went as far as to call me an autistic whore.
I slapped him across the face and ran away crying. And what's more fucked up is that I was the one who got in trouble even though he openly admitted to trying to use me for sex.
That day, I decided I never wanted to be told (I love you), ever again. Not even by my family.
