"Shh.... Everything is going to be alright. I can see you'll go to Heaven soon." — Yukio murmured in a quiet, monotone voice as his thumb continued to run over the young boy's dirtied cheek.
————————</3—————————
This was nothing new to him, really — The angel has been through so many calamities, they didn't even phase him anymore. The sight of death and bloodshed no longer affected him.
The fire that ignited the entire village into flames roared wildly within the soft wind, emanating a heat almost unbearable.
It was getting more and more hard to breathe due to the thick smoke mixing with the cold night air, but even so, Yukio's vibrant purple eyes remained fixated in place.
Slowly but surely, he could sense the life getting drained from the child's now lifeless body the second his eyes fluttered close — All he could do now was just.. Observe his peaceful expression as the boy's body started going cold.
"Was this all really necessary?" — He asked without glancing at his so-called 'partner'.
"Of course it was. What, are you starting to doubt me now? It's a little bit too late, don't you think?" — Akuma responded in a painfully carefree manner, that made it clear he didn't feel a single drop of guilt.
Yukio sighed softly as he slowly moved from his kneeling position back on his feet, his back still turned to Akuma.
"I'm not doubting anyone, I just think this much disturbance could've been avoided. Remember when I told you to 'tone it down' a few days ago?"
Akuma just shrugged casually as he crossed his arms over his chest, amused ocean-blue eyes staring right into the back of the angel's head.
"Oh, don't remind me! You know what I think of that, don't you? I told you so many times, all your advice is-"
He didn't even get to finish his question before Yukio turned around with a deadly, serious expression, his long, white locks falling over his face slightly.
"Boring? Spare me."
Akuma, meanwhile, just stared at him with the most bored expression possible — "You always suck out all the fun!"
In an instant, the red-head appeared beside him like he just appeared out of thin air, resting his arm over his shoulder in a much too friendly manner.
"Gee, stop being so damn serious all the time! It's really starting to freak me out with that scary face of yours, y'know?"
"Don't touch me with your filthy hands." — Yukio hissed out before his prestine, giant angel wings suddenly spread out to roughly shove his partner away.
And Akuma? He just chuckled like an absolute idiot, already used to reactions such as these ones — It was no secret that their relationship should be strictly a professional one, and the fact that he found situations such as these entertaining wasn't a secret either.
"Ohoho! Feisty much, little birdie?"
