The day I learned something odd.

“Asael, honey?”
I hear my mother say from down the hall as I pack my things.
“Coming!” I yell back as I walk down the hall. I stand in the doorway of the living room, seeing my mother and father sitting on the couch.
“Asael my boy,” My father says gruffly, “There is something we need to tell you.”
His face was oddly serious.
“Well? Get it out.”
My mother looked disgusted at what they had to say, “Three Agnostics will be attending your college this year since theirs is full.”
My mother gagged at the word Agnostics.
“What?!” I say upsettingly.
“I know my boy. It’s horrific but it is too late to pull you.”
I look at my father, trying not to lose it. “So what do I do now?”.
My mother sighs before starting to speak. “You’ll have to try your hardest to be safe, these Agnostics they can be… savage.” My mother whispers the last word like it’s a curse from the devil.
My father nods, agreeing with my mother. “There will be a girl Agnostic, my boy, and if you ever fall in love with one, so be it, I will have your head just like we did those sinners in The War of the Wall.”
As my father mentions The War of the Wall, my stomach forms a pit of anxiety, I was just four when The War of the Wall happened.
I nod my head, looking down. When I look back up, my father gives me deadly eyes. “I-I understand father”, I mutter with a slight stutter like a coward.
See, I've never been one to be cowardly but when it comes to my father, I turn into a scared little kid all over again.
See, my father is Malazan Osyth, the most fierce leader The Elect has ever seen. If you were getting scolded by him, you too would be a coward.
”Don’t just look down boy, you’re proving once again you shouldn’t lead my army. You may be dismissed.”
I nod and walk back to my room, grabbing my bags so the carriage can transport me to Reynard University, one of the most difficult colleges to get into. So it amazes me that three of those savages made it into the college.
Shortly after I made my way to the courtyard, the carriage arrived. It’s honestly no surprise that God hasn’t come to save them, they don’t deserve it. They aren’t angelic, they have terrible ways of living, not to mention they can’t even use proper grammar.
Some of those savages even worship other gods and goddesses! Outrageous! It’s utterly disgusting. How could they believe in another when our saviour is right here? We used to be like them, before my father won The War of The Wall because he had God on his side, our savior.
So what made those three savages so good to God to get into college? Soon enough, I get awakened out of my thoughts.
“We have arrived sir!”, the driver says. I grab my bags and get off the carriage. I stood and stared at the building before entering.
“Welcome to Reynard University sir,” the guard by the doors starts to say, “may i take your bags?”. I hand him my bags and thank him.
“Let me show you to your room sir.” the guard says as we walk to the dorms.
While walking through the dorm hallways, I admire the beautiful paintings on the wall. But one in particular catches my eye. I stop to look at it, its beautiful colors giving my brain a type of endorphin I have never felt before.
“It's beautiful isn't it?” the guard says, amusing the painting with me. “It is indeed sir.” the guard nods and smiles. I look at the signature to figure out who painted the master piece. Tomoe, I say in my head over and over again. Who could they possibly be?
“Sir, this is your dorm room, 135” the guard shows me. I nod and smile once again.
“Thank you for all the help, you're phenomenal sir” I say as I watch him put my bags on the floor.
