Eli Mercer
Age 17

Height 5'5"

Compact, quick, built more for slipping through crowds than towering over them.

---

Godly Parent

Hermes, god of travelers, thieves, messengers, and all glorious bad ideas done fast.

---

Background

Eli spent most of his childhood ricocheting between shelters, abandoned buildings, and places he was never meant to stay long. The streets taught him three things early:

1. Keep moving.

2. Never get attached.

3. If it isn’t nailed down, it’s probably safer in your pocket.

Monsters were a constant but unnamed threat. “Rabid dogs.” “Creepy guys with wrong shadows.” He survived on instinct, speed, and stealing just enough to make it to the next sunrise.

When a satyr finally found him, Eli didn’t trust the offer of Camp Half-Blood at first. Free food and a place to sleep sounded like a trap. It took a hellhound attack and a celestial bronze knife practically leaping into his hand for him to believe it.

---

Personality

Restless energy, like he’s always halfway through bolting.

Sharp-witted, sarcastic, and allergic to authority.

Loyal once earned, but that loyalty comes wrapped in pranks and bad decisions.

Struggles with trust. He expects things to vanish. People included.

Despite the bravado, Eli has a soft spot for kids who remind him of himself. He’ll steal for them without hesitation, then deny it to his grave.

---

Fatal Flaw

Kleptomania
Not just greed. Not just impulse. Stealing makes him feel safe. In control. It’s a reflex when he’s anxious, bored, or threatened. Sometimes he doesn’t realize he’s taken something until it’s already in his hand.

This gets him into trouble constantly at camp. Magical items go missing. Keys vanish. Important things end up in very unimportant places.

Hermes finds it hilarious. Chiron does not.

---

Abilities

Typical Son of Hermes perks, sharpened by street survival:

Enhanced Speed & Agility
Not superhuman sprinting, but near-perfect balance, lightning-fast reflexes, and the ability to vanish into a crowd.

Lock Whisperer
Give him a lock and enough time and it opens. Magical, mechanical, doesn’t matter. His fingers understand how things want to come apart.

Pickpocket’s Instinct
He can lift items without conscious thought. Coins, keys, weapons, cursed artifacts. Unfortunately, this also means he steals things he absolutely should not.

Traveler’s Endurance
Thrives on little sleep, minimal food, and long stretches of movement.

Suspected Ability: Uncanny Luck (Unconfirmed)

This is not something Eli can control or consciously use.

It’s a pattern.

He’s always in the right place at the right time, traps fail at the last second,
Blows miss by inches.
