The War

It was a nice day. My brother was in his office doing some paperwork while I was always walking around the Faerie Kingdom like I always do every morning.

As I made my way around the kingdom and greeted the other faeries, a sudden commotion took my attention.

Curious as to what was happening I decided to approach and see. Just as I was about to reach the commotion my brother pulled me aside.

"Columbina, I need you to go to your room and stay there. Lock yourself and hide. Don't let anyone inside no matter what." Said Elder Faerie Cookie clearly agitated.

"But... Why? Is there something going on?"

"Listen to me Columbina. Do as I say and once this is over I will tell you everything, ok? Please." He begged.

I sigh and nod. "Ok, I will do as you say. And please be safe." I was hesitant to leave him and he could clearly see that so he gave me a tight hug.

"I promise to be safe. Now go, I will see you once this is all over." He whispered before he let me go and with a nod I went to my quarters while he went where the commotion was.

Once I got to my room, I locked everything. My windows my door and everything. Then I went to my closet and locked myself in there.

As the minutes went by, everything was quiet. Till I heard some kind of roar. That's when I realized what was happening. We were in war. We were under attack and I was hiding like a coward in the closet while all the other faeries were fighting for the kingdom.

'I am their princess, how can I hide while the others fight.' I thought to myself and then with my mind made up I exited the closet and took my columbina flower staff.

As I exited the palace all I saw was chaos. Blood everywhere... Some faeries were turned to stone while others were covered in blood and with a huge hole in their chest.

Then I saw my brother, he was fighting some kind of serpent cookie. Without thinking I went and started to help in the fight.

"This is your end!" I yelled as I used my staff to capture some of the serpent cookie soldiers in vines with sharp torns. The vines suck the life out of the serpent's and leave them to crumble to dust.

"Columbina what are you doing here!? I told you to stay in your room!" Yelled my brother as he killed another serpent.

"And leave you all fight while I cower in my room? No, this is my kingdom too and I'm going to fight to protect it." I said firmly as I continue to kill the serpent's with the vines and with some toxic torns that wrap around their necks.

Not even my brother said anything. After a long fight we were both cornered back to back as the serpent's approached us. We were already drained and injured the others faeries were also too injured or were already dead.

"Great..." I said panting. "How are you holding Elder?"

"Not good." He replied also panting.

"So this is our end then?" I was almost crying. I didn't want to die. "I love you brother, and I really admire you. I've always did." I sobbed quietly.

"Don't say it like that, sister. We're going to get out of this alive." He said but even he knew there was no way that the two of them would be able to get out alive together.

Just as the hopes were gone a powerful and deep voice stopped the serpent's. "Back down." Said the voice. Both me and Elder Faerie looked up at where the voice was coming from.

Then a figure came into view. My heart stopped as I realized who it was.
