The theater was packed with fans buzzing with excitement. The screening of Mufasa: The Lion King had ended, and Sky and Nani stood on stage, microphones in hand, addressing the audience. The two had been in their element, exchanging playful banter and making the crowd erupt with laughter throughout the evening.
“So, how did you find the movie?” Nani asked, looking over at Sky with his usual mix of curiosity and expectation.
Sky smirked, shrugging casually. “It was good. Emotional, you know? Very nostalgic.”
Nani nodded enthusiastically. “I cried a bit, I can't lie. Did you cry, Khun Sky?”
Sky gave him a teasing side glance. “Why would I cry? I’m not you Khun Nani.”
The audience burst out laughing, but Nani gasped in mock outrage, clutching his chest dramatically. “Fine. Be like that.”
They continued the banter for a while, fielding questions from fans, until Nani turned to Sky with a soft, almost intimate look that made the crowd collectively hold their breath.
“Khun Sky, are you happy?” Nani asked, his voice gentle but insistent.
Sky blinked, momentarily caught off guard. “I’m happy to have watched Mufasa with everyone today,” he replied smoothly, turning to the crowd. “Are you guys happy?”
The fans erupted with a chorus of “Yes!”
But Nani wasn’t satisfied. He crossed his arms and tilted his head slightly, the faintest pout on his lips. “Come on, answer the question,” he pressed, his tone bordering on playful but with an undercurrent of real desire for an answer.
Sky laughed nervously, scratching the back of his neck. “I’m not going home today, am I?” he joked, looking at the fans, who cheered wildly.
Nani’s pout deepened, and he turned his back to Sky with a dramatic flair. “Well, he’s avoiding the question, so I’ll sulk,” he declared, to the delight of the audience.
The playful tension between them lingered as they wrapped up the event, but Sky knew the moment wasn’t over. Not by a long shot.
Outside the Theater
The night air was cool as Sky and Nani waited for Sky’s car in the mostly deserted parking lot. The fans had dispersed, but the silence between the two was thick with unspoken words.
Sky leaned against a streetlamp, his phone in hand, scrolling aimlessly. Nani stood a few feet away, hands in his pockets, occasionally stealing glances at Sky with an expression that could only be described as heart-meltingly sulky. His lips were slightly pouted, and his gaze was soft yet intense, the kind that always made Sky’s heart skip a beat.
Finally, Sky couldn’t take it anymore. He sighed, slipping his phone into his pocket as he walked over to Nani. “Alright, spill it. What’s going on in that head of yours?”
Nani turned to him, his eyes glinting with something mischievous but vulnerable. “You didn’t answer my question.”
Sky raised an eyebrow. “Which question?”
“Don’t play dumb, Khun Sky,” Nani murmured, his voice soft but filled with meaning. “Are you happy?”
Sky exhaled, his usual teasing demeanor faltering. He reached out, lightly brushing Nani’s arm with his fingers. “You already know the answer to that.”
“I want to hear it,” Nani whispered, his gaze unwavering.
Sky hesitated, glancing away for a moment. Then, with a small, almost shy smile, he looked back at Nani. “Yes, Nani. I’m happy. Happy that we got to watch the movie together. Happy that we’re here, just the two of us.”
Nani’s lips twitched into a small smile, but he quickly masked it with a mock frown. “Took you long enough to say it.”
Sky laughed softly, reaching out to gently flick Nani’s forehead. “You’re impossible, you know that?”
Nani stepped back dramatically, rubbing his forehead. “And you’re mean!”
Sky grinned. “Alright, I’ll make it up to you. Come on.”
When they reached the hotel, Nani was still sulking, though it was clear he was playing it up for effect. Sky had excused himself for a moment, leaving Nani alone in his room.
When Nani turned around, he found the lights dimmed, and a small box resting on the table. A note was placed on top.
“For the cutest sulker I know. You drive me crazy sometimes, but I wouldn’t have it any other way. – Sky”
Nani’s heart skipped as he opened the box to reveal a My Melody bracelet, the pink charm glinting softly in the light.
Before he could process the gesture, Sky walked in, hands in his pockets, his expression unusually soft.
“You like it?” Sky asked, leaning against the doorframe.
Nani looked up at him, his eyes wide. “You… got this for me?”
Sky shrugged, feigning nonchalance. “Well, you’re obsessed with Sanrio merch, and I figured you’d like it. Besides, I owed you for being an ass earlier.”
Nani couldn’t stop the grin that spread across his face. “You’re still an ass.”
“Yeah, but I’m your ass,” Sky shot back with a smirk.
Nani laughed, the sound light and genuine, before stepping closer. “Thanks, Khun Sky. I really love it.”
Sky reached out, gently clasping the bracelet around Nani’s wrist. His fingers lingered for a moment, and when their eyes met, the air between them shifted.
“You're still going to sulk like that again, aren't you” Sky said softly with mischief in his eyes. “You’ll be the death of me.”
Nani’s cheeks flushed, but he didn’t look away. “Then stop giving me reasons to sulk, Khun Skyyy.”
Sky chuckled, pulling Nani into a tight hug. “I'm afraid I can't, you're too irresistible Nani.”
And just like that, the playful tension melted into something deeper, something only they could understand.
