Prologue — Before There Were Gods
Before Heaven had gates.
Before Hell had thrones.
Before Dragons had names.
There was awareness.
Not loneliness.
Not hunger.
Not ambition.
Just a single realization, quiet and undeniable:
> Existence could be kinder.
There was nothing forcing creation to happen.
No void screaming to be filled.
No destiny demanding motion.
But there was possibility — untested, unrealized.
And so, gently, carefully, existence was allowed to begin.
Not as a kingdom.
But as a chance.

Chapter 1 — Stepping Down
God did not die.
That alone unsettled everyone.
Heaven waited for trumpets that never sounded. Hell braced for collapse that never came. Dragons watched, coiled and wary, expecting a vacuum.
Instead—
Authority loosened.
Not shattered.
Not stolen.
Released.
Laws rewrote themselves without ceremony. Miracles stopped requiring permission. Heaven’s systems began responding to need instead of command.
Michael stood before the Great Archive, watching directives update themselves.
“…He’s not gone,” Uriel said carefully.
“No,” Michael replied, wings folding slowly.
“He trusted us.”
Elsewhere, a man walked through Kuoh with no halo, no weight bending reality around him.
Finite.
Weaker.
Smiling.

Chapter 2 — A World That Doesn’t Need Permission
The Occult Research Club felt… heavier.
Not darker.
Just honest.
Rias noticed it during a routine sparring session.
“…The outcome didn’t tilt,” she said, frowning slightly.
Issei wiped sweat from his brow. “Is that bad?”
“No,” the former God said calmly. “It’s new.”
She looked at him sharply. “You did this.”
“I stopped doing something,” he corrected.
Rating Games changed after that.
Riser Phenex was still overwhelming — but his power no longer decided the match by default. Probability didn’t kneel.
When Rias won, she didn’t feel relief.
She felt pride.
“…It listened to me,” she whispered afterward.
“No,” he replied.
“It trusted you.”

Chapter 3 — Heaven Without a God
Michael did not rage.
That surprised everyone.
He stood before Heaven’s autonomous core as it processed requests, redirected energy, and resolved moral conflicts without divine override.
