INT. JASMINE’S BEDROOM – NIGHT
Jasmine, 17, is standing in front of her bedroom mirror, applying her makeup with careful precision. Her room is warm and cozy, posters of her favorite bands on the walls, soft light from a desk lamp illuminating the space.
Her phone buzzes on the dresser. She picks up her iPhone 17 Pro Max. The screen shows “Unknown Caller”. She frowns.
JASMINE
(muttering)
Probably just some telemarketer…
She swipes to answer.
JASMINE
Hello?
A distorted, quiet voice comes through the line.
CALLER (V.O.)
Hi… Jasmine.
Her breath catches.
JASMINE
Who’s this?
CALLER (V.O.)
Just someone who wants to talk. Are you home alone tonight?
JASMINE
(laughs nervously)
Yeah… my parents went grocery shopping.
A pause. The voice hums softly.
CALLER (V.O.)
You look… nice tonight. Going somewhere?
JASMINE
Um… yeah, I’m going to see Manuel.
The caller chuckles lightly. Jasmine tilts her head, trying to shake off the unease.
JASMINE
Okay… weird question… what’s your favorite horror movie?
CALLER (V.O.)
Hmm… I like the ones where no one survives. And you?
JASMINE
(smiling nervously)
I like… classics, like Halloween and Scream. And books… I just started It by Stephen King.
CALLER (V.O.)
Books… good. I like the ones that… keep you up at night.
The conversation feels normal. Almost too normal. Jasmine laughs, trying to ease her nerves.
JASMINE
You’re kind of… creepy.
CALLER (V.O.)
(soft, playful)
Just curious. Tell me… Jasmine… do you lock your doors at night?
Jasmine freezes. Her laughter dies in her throat.
JASMINE
Why… why do you want to know that?
A long, silent pause. Then a whisper, almost breathless:
CALLER (V.O.)
Because tonight… someone won’t make it past midnight.
Jasmine drops the phone. Her eyes widen in horror as the line goes dead.
She looks around her quiet room. The cozy bedroom suddenly feels like a cage. The shadows in the corners seem to twitch.
INT. JASMINE’S BEDROOM – NIGHT
Jasmine’s hands are shaking. She picks up her dropped phone, staring at the dark screen.
JASMINE
(to herself)
Okay… okay, just… breathe.
She rushes through her house, checking every door and window. Each lock clicks securely. Her chest rises and falls as she exhales, trying to calm herself.
Suddenly, her phone vibrates again. The screen flashes “Unknown Caller.”
JASMINE
(whispering)
No… no, no, no…
She answers.
CALLER (V.O.)
(soft, menacing)
Did you check the backdoor, Jasmine?
Her blood runs cold. She bolts to the backdoor, fumbling with the lock. It finally clicks. She leans against the door, trembling.
