The Fall Semester

YOUR POV

The day that I found out I'm going to room with a guy, was the day I knew it was either going to be the most significant thing that would happen to me, or the most horrible thing.

It shouldn't have happened. It was an error in the system, yet they still kept us together through the entirety of the summer semester.

When we filed reports, we were told we had to hang tight until they could find us open slots in other dormitories. Since we were both on scholarships and financial aid, none of us could move to a dormitory outside the university.

I wasn't in the dorms until this semester, when I received a free of charge opportunity to dorm with a roommate because of my high GPA and being at the top of my year.

I thought it would be nice to experience the university life fully, I just didn't expect I'd end up dorming with a guy.

So we were both stuck together. Two of the most unmixable personality types, sharing one dorm.

Thankfully, the dorms in this university resembled mini apartments, where we had a kitchen open to a living area, a bathroom, and 2 separated bedrooms.

If it were one opened bedroom for both of us, we would've already been against each other's throats. Not that I've ever actually seen my roommate get violent. He was always very calm and collected, unlike me.

He was water, I was fire.

He was neat, I was messy.

He was organized, and I was a procrastinator.

We had many more differences between us, but one thing we had in common was leadership. We both loved to lead and were good at it.

I, Y/n L/n, a third year digital art major, was the president of the university's club called "Creative Arts Club." I've been a board member in that club for a year. I was first in charge of creating posters for the events, and taking care of the club's social media, but once the former president graduated, he deemed me fit to take over after him and keep the club he created alive.

My roommate, Kita Shinsuke, a third year agricultural science major, was the president of the university's official volleyball team. Having been on the team since his first year, he quickly caught the eye of the former president and was elected as his successor by his teammates.

What better way to start both our senior years than being the presidents of the clubs we were so passionate about.

Although kita and I had our differences at first, since we both had different lifestyles, we understood that we should both compromise when need be, until we are able to go our separate ways.

If that meant i had to be aware of how unorganised everything around me is and needing to sort it out, then it would have to be done.

If that meant Kita needed to understand that I had a lot on my plate, and comprehending that a mess right now did not mean it would stay that way forever, then he would have to be patient.

I know how much he hates the mess, and he knows I've come a long way throughout our summer semester and have been doing my best to clean up after myself.

He always was patient, but when it came to the first month of us living together, he wasn't aware i could push his buttons over silly matters. Buttons he didn’t even know he had.

Since Kita is known to rarely ever get angry, the first time a fight broke out between us was a war of ice and fire.

Where I was screaming, turning red, fuming out the ears, and crashing out.
