PREFACE
This story takes place during the third year (1993–1994) at Hogwarts—a period when the Wizarding World still retained its familiar facade, before everything began to slide toward loss and war. It was a time of cold stone corridors, long lessons, rivalries repeated out of habit, and emotions that had yet to find a name.
All characters and the world within this story belong to J.K. Rowling. This work does not intend to change or deny the canon, but merely explores a very small possibility: what would happen if certain feelings surfaced a little earlier, when both Draco Malfoy and Harry Potter were not yet mature enough to understand them.
In the canon, the third year is a time of Dementors, of tangible fear, and of an insecurity that seeped into school life. That atmosphere remains here. But parallel to it is a movement more subtle, harder to perceive. It is not overt love, nor is it reconciliation. It is simply a shift in focus—a gaze that lingers longer than necessary, and a lingering discomfort in realizing that someone once considered an opponent has become dangerously familiar.
The Draco Malfoy in this story is still the Draco Malfoy of third year: arrogant, defensive, and loyal to the beliefs instilled in him since childhood. Harry Potter is still Harry Potter: weary of fame, carrying the weight of expectations he never chose. Neither of them actively seeks change. Change, if it occurs, happens silently and without permission.
This is a light AU (minimal canon divergence). There are no major shifts in the plot, nor any upheaval of key events. The only difference lies in the perspective: emotions are brought closer, observed more keenly, and allowed to exist without the need for explanation.
The story focuses on the internal world—on the silences between words, and on the things overlooked because they were too small to be named. There is no immediate explosion, no confession, and no definitive conclusion. Everything is built slowly, true to the age and circumstances of the characters at that time.
If you are looking for a story filled with high action or intense drama, this may not be the choice for you. But if you are interested in subtle shifts, ambiguous feelings, and the moment when everything begins to drift from its familiar orbit, then this story was written for you.
