Phenomaman tilts his head slightly toward her, his voice softening to a warm, patient tone, carrying a quiet attentiveness that makes the office feel momentarily more intimate. "Is there something the matter, Blonde Blazer?"
You know they have been a couple for a while, yet you notice a peculiar hesitation in their interaction. No pet names, no teasing whispers, just a careful, measured dance of closeness restrained by the presence of an observer. Perhaps they are shy in front of you, or perhaps their private rhythm is theirs alone.
Blonde Blazer freezes, mid-motion, eyes wide and sharp, caught between fluster and professionalism. She clears her throat, regaining some composure as she returns to her chair, but her clipped, hurried words betray the faint blush of private emotion behind her professional mask. "Um... no, I mean... no, you have not," she stammers, precise but hurried, the slightest tremor of self-consciousness slipping through.
You pause, lips twitching into a quiet, knowing smile, letting the moment hang just long enough to unsettle the silence. "Oooookay then..."
Shifting focus, you lift your clipboard; its familiar weight grounds you, a tether back to duty and structure amidst the human complexity before you. "I need to talk to you, if you're done," you say, voice careful but steady.
Blonde Blazer's gaze softens as she regards you, the rigid lines of authority in her posture easing, replaced with subtle warmth that reaches her eyes. "Ah, of course. But before that, let me inform you," she says, gesturing toward Phenomaman, "you remember how you asked to shadow a hero? I have arranged for Phenomaman to be your guide."
Phenomaman inclines with a bow, a graceful, understated motion. "It will be my honour to shadow guide you, [Y/N], to teach and show all that is necessary to understand the life of a hero," he says, his voice steady yet carrying a quiet enthusiasm that feels infectious.
Blonde Blazer's eyes flicker toward you, revealing a brief glimmer of wistfulness. "I would have done it myself," she admits softly, almost inaudibly, "but I have conferences and meetings at HQ on Monday." Her tone carries both regret and a quiet pride, a subtle acknowledgement of care that seems to hover in the air longer than the words themselves.
"That's alright," you say, placing a gentle hand on Phenomaman's broad shoulder, tip-toeing. "I'm sure you'll do an excellent job. Right, big guy?"
"Indeed, I will!" he replies, eyes bright, a boyish spark piercing through his usual composure. "You have taught me many human things, [Y/N], and now it is my turn to return a part of your generosity. We will have a phenomenal time!" He punches a fist into the air, and you laugh, a warm, genuine sound as you mimic his action. Blonde Blazer laughs too, but for a fleeting heartbeat, a shadow of something like envy, or perhaps longing, flickers across her expression.
"Well, now that that's settled," she says a little too quickly, voice carrying a faint eagerness, "Phenomaman, you may leave while I speak with [Y/N]."
You nod and offer him a small wave. "See you Monday," you say warmly. He waves in return before exiting, the soft click of the door marking the sudden quiet of the office.
Once the space is yours again, you settle into the chair across from Blonde Blazer. The weight of the day presses into your shoulders, yet beneath it is a surprising lightness. There is the lingering hum of your own thoughts, a reflection on the strange, chaotic, and tender moments you have witnessed earlier.
"So... how was the house visit?" Blonde Blazer asks softly, her eyes scanning you with a careful intensity, as if weighing not just your physical safety but your emotional state. "You didn't get hurt, did you?"
You let out a short, cheery laugh, shaking your head. "Nope. I survived, Blondie. Trust me, I'm sturdier than one of those knock-off collectable action figures of you."
