This is just a quick word from the author.

Hello (again)! Shadow here!

I fell in love with Milo and August, so I decided to give them their own kinda spinoff. Very happy writing this =]

By reading this book, you commit to treating me and others with respect. If you comment hate of ***ANY*** kind, you will be blocked. (Unless, of course, you're hating on any negative characters. That is allowed.) This means that you won't be able to read or interact with my writing anymore. If you have questions or are confused about anything, feel free to ask in the comments, but please phrase it in a non offensive way.

Also, please do not DM me without first asking in the comments. If you DM me without asking, you will also be blocked. If you do not get an answer, that is a no.

This book contains implied depictions of eating disorders, along with trauma, near death, self harm, chronic illness, etc. Please read responsibly.

As you all may have noticed (if you read Summer Birds), towards the middle-end I started layering in Milo's health fracturing. Poor Milo :[ In The Atlas Of Us, you will see that mirrored greatly. I also wanted to capture the struggles that August goes through as he forgets to take care of himself while tending to Milo.

Since the chronic illness (or as it turns out, I think, cancer) trigger kind of persists through the entire book, I'm deciding not to put it in each chapter to save me the pain. Please note that this message is the trigger warning for the entire book.

Please also note that I am not trying to be disrespectful to chronically ill folk in any way. It is simply a) to spread awareness for the severity of illnesses, and b) to provide an entertaining experience.

(It also may or may not be to make Milo suffer as much as possible. Oh, the whumperflies!) - [ For those of you not familiar with this term, it is a term used on Tumblr's whump community - like the butterflies for whump writers 😁 ]

Another thing - I have realized that up until now, I've been kind of misogynistic - what with Jane and the woman from Milo's daycare in book 1, and then Greta (August's ex), August's ma, etc. I'm working to change that lol. It was not my intent at all to spread those messages.

I guess I did it subconsciously. After all, at my school, a lot of the people who have bullied me/been homo/transphobic toward me ARE femme people. I guess I just wanted to get it out of my system or something. I apologize now for any offense I might have caused to any femme people.

So. Things you can expect include:
- a trans pregnancy <3
- Milo's health worsening :[
- lessened misogyny: femme characters seen through less of an evil lens, masc characters seen through more of an evil lens
- Milo's cousin Lior!!! (I love Lior. BTW it's pronounced "lee-OR")
- Milo's vlogs becoming a part of the story????
- Nick and Charlie will be present for an arc, not sure how long that arc will be yet =]
- Junebug <3 (will she be a service dog???? Hmmmmmmmm.......)
- and much more!

Now.

Without further ado.

Let's dive right into Chapter One: New Horizons.

Enjoy.
