Years later, Jareth-in his owl form- looks for Sarah only to find her happily married. So he flys back to his kingdom and ponders on what he should do to keep his grandfather's soon to be dying wish.
I sit on my throne thinking , how on earth am I going to keep this promise?... then a wonderful idea pops in my head. A sly grin spreads across my face, I get up from the throne and go find my grandmother.
Eventually I find her in the library. "Oh, Jareth. My dearest grandson. What do you need?" She says as she looks up from her book ,smiling.
"I need your help.. I'm planning something rather..extravagant... actually, a few things now that I come to think of it." My tone is slightly nervous. She puts her book down and gives me a skeptical but serious look. "This isn't about your grandfathers wish,is it?" Her brow is raised, her tone concerned but chiding. I look down to the floor, folding my hands together.
" Jareth, you shouldn't have made that promise, it isn't likely to keep. Including that it's not fair to you."
I sigh deeply " I understand, but it was spur of the moment...you know how I am towards grandfather...I don't want to disappoint him... not now-no-now isn't the time for that... including when.....these next couple of months is his...last..." my breath is slightly uneven when speaking or even thinking of my grandfathers soon to be passing.
I turn away, my expression becomes cold, not harsh though. The ambiance is heavy-solemn-weighing the room down. Neither of us speak, all to be heard is mine and my grandmothers breathing.
Charlotte and Katlyn(at their house in Katlyns room)-
"Ok! But that's totally not fair! I mean come on! He's so hot, how could anyone reject him?!" I say enthusiastically, but not harshly. "Charlotte, he may be hot but who says 'love me, fear me, do as I say and I will be your slave?!' He's literally a walking therapy disaster!" Replies Katlyn, applying nail polish to her finger nails.
"OK ,BUT besides those facts... I honestly wish I'd get wished away." I say in a dreamy like tone ,setting down the labyrinth book on her sisters night stand beside the bed.
Katlyn looks at me as if I was crazy "Well if someone is wishing you away, at least let it be me." She jokes and I roll my eyes. "Yeah, yeah. Soo funny." I say dryly, lazily doing jazz hands for a moment.
"In all seriousness though, you really shouldn't talk like that though. After all he's fictional so I doubt the wish would work." She says , applying the last nail polish coat to her nails as she sits apple sauce criss cross on the floor.
I just sigh " maybe our parents are right. Maybe I should stop daydreaming and get a real boyfriend." I say a little discouraged, flopping back on Katlyns large bed that has flowery bed linens and pillows. "Hey... there's nothing wrong with daydreaming,sis.. you just need to make sure you still know the lines between reality and fiction." She gives me a small smile.
Jareth-
I turn to my grandmother "Preparations are to be made and i must send the invites out to the other kingdoms. I will be hosting a masquerade, tonight." I say my voice firm, making no room for argument, but i can still hear her sigh.
After exiting the library i walk quietly to my chambers. I have to be dressed for this masquerade I'm hosting and i must be more than presentable. I wear black leggings,a black/silver frock and vest, silvery jewels decorate the cuffs and collar; A white under shirt with a frilly neck tie and cuffs. I stand at my mirror one last time, fixing my collar before i head out of my room and go to the ballroom, taking a deep breath as i stand before the ballrooms looming doors. This is the last masquerade to find a Queen, if i fail this time, my promise is impossible to be kept.
