Before we started it was over,
I feel our bodies getting colder.

(Calum's POV):

I was mad.

No, I was livid.

Everything I've ever done for that girl, has been crumpled up and tossed.

She chose him? Seriously? After everything he's done to her. It's still him.

"C'mon Calum," Ashton patted my back in sincerity, "She's got a method of killing, man. All girls do, they don't see what they do to us guys. They expect us to bend over backwards for them, yet the moment we pour our heart out. It's not enough."

"I just, I don't get it man. It's a road that leads to freaking no where with her." I respond instantly fighting back the pain in my chest. "She gives me a feeling I can't fight, I've been head over heels for this girl since I could remember."

"Sometimes you got to think about yourself first, mate." he gave me a sympathetic look and left me in my room to sulk.

A couple weeks past, Riley and I haven't spoken since that night. The boys and I have been booking more and more shows, meaning releasing new music left and right.

"Guys, we're literally booked for a show tonight and we can't do the same setlist that we did yesterday. We have to mix it up, or at least add some more!" Luke exclaimed, he definitely needed to calm down or all of us would start freaking out.

"I've got a song..." I responded quietly.

"You do? How come you didn't share it with us mate?" Michael asked arching an eyebrow.

"I didn't think it was ready," I responded shrugging.

Oh and because it's about Riley, again.

"Here's the chords, just follow along. Luke, I'll take both verses. You just need to get the chorus, is that fine?" I look over at him waiting for a response.

"Got it." He nods in agreement.

"Oh and for the bridge, I'll go first, then you can repeat."

"Ready? 1, 2... 1, 2, 3... I can't look at you in the same light, knowing what you did, my heart doesn't feel right. Yeah, my head's been tripping all night, I need another point of view." I looked over at Ash, knowing that he'd love to know that I quoted him, "I've got a friend who's committed to sci-fi, he's reading every comic, he's addicted to Twilight. He'll give you the goosebumps, but he's never led me wrong. He said, she's got a method of killing: pulling you in like you're gonna start kissing, fooling around like you've lost all feeling, sucking your blood until your heart stops beating."

"Before we started it was over," Luke came in strong. "I feel our bodies getting colder. She gives me, a feeling that I can't fight. And it's the road that leads to nowhere, but all I want to do is go there. She's got me running from the daylight, daylight."

"Damn, Cal. You're slaying these lyrics mate." Michael smirks at me cutting off our rehearsal.

"Who cares? This songs literally the shit!" Ashton pitched in.

We continued practicing the chords in preparation for the show.

"... I've got a taste for it and I'm obsessed. Lying here, no fear of the darkness. Now I'm not happy unless, I'm close enough to you-" I looked up and out to the crowd to meet two familiar sad eyes.

"Excuse me guys, " I announced running off the stage leaving the boys in shock.

"Riley wait!" I called after her, now standing in the empty parking lot.

"Stop, Calum. Leave me alone."

"No," I grabbed her arm and pulled for her to face me, "why are you here?"

"It's none of your business, Calum. Let me go!" she spit back at me.

My grip tightened, "Riley, why are you here?" I asked again.

"Was that song about me?" Tears fell from her eyes, " Was it?!"

I stood silent with a tight grip around her wrist, not knowing what to respond.

"Tell me, Calum. Was it about-"

"Yes! Yes, it was about you. It was about what happened two fucking weeks ago. It's about how I can't eat, how I can't sleep. It's about the girl who is fucking sucking the living daylight out of me without giving two shits." I spit out finally, "Is that what you want to hear, Riley? Huh? You broke my heart, by choosing him and then you show up at my show two weeks later. Why is that, why were you here?"

"I just wanted to see my best friend!" She spit out. Both of us were full on yelling in the parking lot now, both of us completely livid, steam was spewing out of our ears.

"That's all I'll ever be to you though, am I right? Not even a best friend though, because it's not like you acknowledge me out in public, it's only on your time. It's whenever you want to be my best friend." I yelled back at her, " Aren't I right? Yes, that song is about you. But every fucking word written was nothing but the truth. Did you even take the time to listen to it or were you too caught up in the fact that I wrote a song that sounded negative about you? Tell me that, Riley."

We stood there in silence.

I finally released my grip from her arm, again with my heart shattered in pieces.

"That's what I thought," I stated and made my way back into the restaurant, leaving her behind in the street.

"Welcome back, Cally-boy!" Luke shouted into the mic after noticing me waiting to jump back onto the stage.

"Is there anything you would like to say for yourself young man?" Ashton chuckled into his mic from behind me, leaving the crowd laughing as well.

I smiled at my boys, who smiled back at me. Luke placed a comforting hand on my back, "let's finish this, brother."

"Sorry, folks for that abrupt interruption." I stated, "Hmm, where was I now... Oh yeah!"

I cleared my throat and began the chords, "I'm not ready to start again, and you're not willing to make amends. Now the daylight's dangerous. It'll turn us both to dust."

Luke then grabbed my mic and repeated as we played the rest of the song. All of us, my best mates leaving all we got on the stage.
